#WhoMakesItHappen: Angela Duffy

A native of Ireland, Angela Duffy joined AccelerEd in July 2019 as a change management consultant. Having formerly worked directly for our largest client, UMGC, she continues to pivot wherever she is needed across various business transformation roles to achieve company objectives.

Changing the Face of Higher Ed

Many of AccelerEd's large strategic projects can sometimes prove disruptive due to a new technology, business transformation, process reengineering, or organizational changes. As a change management consultant, Angela applies a structured change management methodology to identify and manage the?people impacts?of change.

Change management is about winning hearts and minds. Angela’s focus is on minimizing the resistance to change and increasing adoption. She helps create strategies for smooth transitions by involving stakeholders, frequently communicating, and delivering training on new environments.

Advancing Student Support

The initiatives that Angela works on support the people who work to improve the student experience. However, these improvements mean staff and faculty have to do things differently. She makes it as easy as possible for them to readily adopt changes to their jobs, processes, and routines in support of students. Success means that UMGC staff and faculty can competently and confidently perform their jobs after a change.

Ahoy!

Sailing and being on the water is a big part of Angela's personal life. Her son Conor also enjoys the sport and for several years, Angela says, “I was an ‘Opti Mom’, shuttling my son to regattas to compete.” But all the shuttling paid off for Conor, as he has since represented the U.S. in international regattas in France, Italy, and the Bahamas.

When not sailing, or supporting her son’s sporting, Angela likes to ski, golf, and walk her silver Labrador, Ocean.
