I got a personal email this morning from Dr. Ben Carson (former Secretary of Health and Human Services) I’m not sure we’ve met, but I’m sure we’ve crossed paths.? Anyway, I am grateful he sent this to me.? Why?? I love having different points of view represented.? (Trigger warning)

?“Dear Morgan,

Our American values—faith, liberty, community, and life—are under attack. The moral foundation that has upheld our beloved nation is at risk, and the future of America hangs in the balance. But in these challenging times, there is hope. That hope, dear friend, lies in patriots like you.”

Under attack?? The enemy must be close.? Standby while I dig into my personal armory here.? Who’s with me?

?Let me help describe what I see is going on here:? Dr Ben Carson has "street cred." with his education and from his politically appointed position as Secretary of Health and Human Services. ?(Authority Gradient) This is leveraged to trigger my human emotions because, according to him, I need to defend my faith, my liberty, my community, and my life.? These are the “moral foundation”, now at risk, but wait…. There is hope, but only with patriots like me (validation that I am already a part of the in-group).?

Here is the caveat: If I say anything questioning the validity of this, I become the enemy, banished from the tribe.? If I fight for it, I risk alienating my fellow American patriots.?

The foundation of the Constitution is the rule law protecting our values with checks and balances. ?If I need to defend or justify my faith to my community, or “just accept” that my liberty and life are at stake, maybe I need to rethink the whole moral foundation and why it can’t stand alone??

While never officially charged with wrongdoing under Dr Carson’s leadership, I can assure you that if I came home one day and told my wife that I just bought us a $30,000 dining set, I would find myself crucified.? Now, to be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than a thousand bucks for a dishwasher, because I have never seen one that actually cleans the dishes for me.? But for almost nine thousand dollars, you can have one like theirs.? Maybe you can hook it directly to a fire hydrant??

To achieve our goal with the Uncharted Humanity Project, ground rules and fundamental principles derived from the last three thousand years productively guide our way to a different level of consciousness.?

We are all in uncharted territory, by definition, as attaining and communicating on this level of consciousness requires skills that are rarely taught today.? The only effort this takes to be successful, is in one’s willingness to put everything we hold to be true about ourselves, on the table, not for the purpose of accepting someone else’s standards and ideas.? Accept the possibility that what you believe can be built upon in a way that not only gives you a deeper sense of peace but creates a lasting and positive impact for humanity.?

? If you would like to bring your concerns to The Uncharted Humanity Project, you have a seat at the table.? In fact, you may even take new realizations with you that will unite us.? Really… you have nothing to lose except your fear that the moral foundation of this country is under attack.?
