Have you ever caught yourself daydreaming during an important meeting or zoning out while your child shares their day with you? You're not alone. As I noted on my Live. Love. Engage. podcast , research shows we spend nearly half our waking hours thinking about something other than what we're doing.
?But what if we could reclaim that time and truly embrace each moment?
As entrepreneurs, we often find ourselves caught in the whirlwind of business growth, client work, and personal responsibilities. It's easy to lose sight of the present moment as we chase our dreams or worry about the future. But living fully in the present is not just a lofty ideal - it's a powerful practice that can transform our lives and businesses.
3 Ways to Live More Fully in the Present
Here are three ways you can start living fully:
1. Set an intention for mindfulness
Begin each day by setting an intention to be more present. This simple act can shift your awareness and help you catch yourself when your mind starts to wander.
Try this: As you wake up, take a deep breath and say to yourself, "Today, I choose to be fully present in each moment."
2. Engage your senses
When you find yourself drifting, use your senses to anchor yourself in the present. Notice the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures around you.
For example, while working on a project, pause to feel the keys beneath your fingertips, listen to the ambient sounds in your space, or really look at the colors on your screen.
3. Practice "uni-tasking"
In a world that glorifies multitasking, try focusing on one task at a time. Give your full attention to whatever you're doing, whether it's writing an email, having a conversation, or even washing the dishes.

Remember, living fully doesn't mean every moment needs to be extraordinary. It's about being present and engaged in the ordinary moments of life. This presence can lead to greater joy, deeper connections, and even more creativity and productivity in your business.
Balancing Presence with Future Goals
But what about those big dreams and goals we have for the future?
Living in the present doesn't mean abandoning our aspirations. Instead, it means finding a balance between working towards our goals and appreciating where we are right now.
Here's how to maintain that balance:
?1. Visualize with intention
?Set aside time to visualize your goals and dreams. Really see, feel, and experience them in your mind. But do this as a focused practice, not as a constant distraction from the present.
?2. Take aligned action
Break down your big goals into small, manageable steps. Focus fully on each step as you take it, knowing it's bringing you closer to your dreams.
?3. Practice gratitude
Regularly acknowledge and appreciate what you have and where you are right now. This helps prevent the "I'll be happy when..." mindset and allows you to find joy in the journey.
Cultivating Presence: A Journey, Not a Destination?
Living fully in the present moment is a practice, not a destination. Be patient with yourself as you cultivate this skill. Over time, you may find that not only does your quality of life improve, but your business thrives as well, as you bring more presence and intention to everything you do.

1 个月It's been challenging for many entrepreneurs in Florida the last couple of weeks as we've had to keep our eyes on the tropics. I'm grateful to have missed out on the worst of the storms, but it's still left me feeling emotionally drained, which is bringing on physical symptoms of congestion, so self-care is a major practice for me today!
