Whole Body Diffusion – (WB-DWI)
This example shows how important a high b value is due to increasing the diagnostic confidence. Higher b value increases background suppression, but also decreases the SNR.

b50 and b1000 were scanned together in coronal plane with multi stations, then merge together, total scantime around 10min.

b800 was scanned alone also in coronal plane with multi stations, then merge, total scantime around 8.5min.

All images are done on a Siemens 1.5T Aera with Body 18ch 2x combined Spine 32ch

Magnetom Essenza came to the marked in 2007, it’s a 60cm bore magnet with RF TIM 46x16, gradient strength of 30/100. Can combine TIM + DOT Magnetom Avanto came to the marked in 2003, back then this was a game changer. Ultimate workhorse with flexibility of coils combining, accuracy and speed. Today you can have a Avanto with TIM4G + DOT. Avanto is a 60cm bore magnet with highest available RF TIM 76x32, gradient strength of 45/200. Magnetom Aera came to the marked in 2009 along with TIM4G and DOT. Aera is 70cm bore magnet with highest available RF TIM 204x64. With a 70cm bore and magnet length of 137cm there is definitely a game changer for patient comfort. Gradient strength of 45/200 My opinion when it comes to workhorses from Siemens Magnetom Systems are definitely Aera. Before Aera came to the marked, Avanto was nr1 workhorse. Today combining Aera with TIM4G, DOT, and also the new software E11 (efficiency), thing goes really fast. I can combine coils, sequences, heavy reconstruction of sequences (perfusion, twist etc), goes much faster now with the newer software. I have no experience in other vendors, but I believe all vendor have pro and cons. I guess it’s all about SPEED VS QUALITY.

hi Dr. Yousef, I have no experience in magetnom Essenza, but for avanto, aera and other siemens system i have experience with. First i just want to tell you something about TIM and DOT. TIM (total imaging matrix) which came into the marked back in 2003. Its purpose was for providing unprecedented flexibility, accuracy, and speed. By combining coils in any way. Integrated coils and this opportunity combine coils made everything more efficient. In 2009 TIM4G came which is the 4th generation of TIM, and it can provide 204 coils elements with up to 128 independent RF channels for the speed and accuracy you need. DOT (day optimizing throughput) In 2009 DOT was available, its purpose was flexibility consistent results and efficiently. With DOT it's possible to optimize examination workflows and shorten examination times, e.g. through automated procedures. DOT ensures optimal timing between breathing and scanning via automatic breath-hold commands. The auto bolus detection ensures that the exposure will be taken at the correct point-of-time during contrast medium examinations. Nowadays 88% of MRI exams covered by DOT engines (Angio, Large Joint, Cardiac, Abdomen etc.)

nice work indeed, my question please is about the technical differences (in brief) between the Magnetom Essenza, Avanto and Aera. You seem to be experienced in Siemens MRI systems. Thanks
