Who are you? And why do you what you do?

Who are you? And why do you what you do?

People often ask, what is it you do? But I believe there are 2 questions more important than that: Who are you? And why do you what you do?

So let me introduce myself, my name is Martin Edward Gillespie, and I am a man living out my greatest truth, and I do this because I know what it’s like to live in the shadows of my truth.

My deepest passion is to leave this world healthier than I found it. A thriving world, with nations thriving, accessing tools that will allow them to live a life, bravery to step into their greatest truth, exceeding expectations they may have had, all while experiencing the true joy of health and all it encompasses.

Now you know how I am, let me tell you why I do what I do.

Spreading the benefits of Metabolic wellbeing is what I do. I do this in a variety of ways, through my writing, through my agency of addressing root causes of modern illnesses, as a host of my podcast ‘Metabolic Wellbeing without the BS’, my commitment to learning, and my ongoing studies. I read, write, listen, remain curious, and will forever be the student of life.

People find their path in my different ways, some through adversity, some discover it with age, others during life changing moments. There is evidence to suggest that people discover their true path, sometimes known as an awakening when faced with a terminal illness. I am no exception to this rule, I discovered my greatest truth and embodiment after a diagnosis, less than a year after my sister unfortunately lost her life to the same illness.

It wasn’t as seamless as it sounds, and I didn’t go from getting the news, straight to my truth, there were many bumps, diversions, lots of swearing, poor choices, asking for help, being open to receive help, and despair before I knew where to go, but I found my way, and still learning.

I am not here to tell you how to live out your truth, but to show how I discovered mine with the hope in doing so, you discover yours.

Standing today as the healthiest version of myself, not just in a physical sense, but in a spiritual, emotional, social, psychological sense. I have never felt more, alive, more whole and more at peace than I do right now.

?

As young man, I was hard wired for success, and if not hard wired, I was sure I would find it and I did. An avid reader from a young age, I had a hunger for learning, a curious mind and a desire to go places.

My success was financial and driven by what I believed success to be. The big salary, the bonuses, the car, the house, and in some ways the status.

I was on the trajectory of life, equipped with a degree in Hospitality Management and a master’s in international marketing, I was living out the blueprint. University, job, money, lifestyle, success, career.

I knew I would be successful, and I knew I would travel the world, but it was not my success nor my travels that set me free.

?

That life brought me many great things, including the freedom to pursue my truth when the time came. I don’t shun any of my life experiences as they are all part of the story, no one chapter more important than the next.

I am here to tell you is that our health is our greatest asset. I want my words, what I have learned to help you discover the healthiest version of you. Life holds no guarantee for anyone but the most empowering step any of us can take, is in the acceptance that we can become the CEO (Chief Energy Officer) of our health.?

Every change begins with one simple step in the right direction.

Are you ready? Are you ready to take responsibility for your most valuable asset in life?

What a beautiful reflection and trajectory. Couldn’t agree more with you about health is the greatest asset even though everything else is also important ??

A beautiful reflection Martin, and I relate to your story about the freedom that a traditional career gives. Is though it really freedom, as your article suggests? I also love this sentence: "That life brought me many great things, including the freedom to pursue my truth when the time came. ??
