WHO ARE YOU WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING?

Happy New Year, everyone! May it be a good one for all!!!

And I decided to kick-start this year with an act of bravery. I have been dreading this moment for a while, and I guess the time has come to tell you.

This is my first published book. I wrote it over a year ago, but I have delayed telling the world about it. Why? Because I am scared. Terrified!

When you write a book, very often, it may feel too personal, too open, too exposed. It may seem like your soul is inside out, and when you publish your creation, suddenly you realise that it is there for the whole world to see.

It is a fiction book. It is not about me. But somehow, it is.

Someone once told me that a writer should write like no one is watching. But when no one is watching, when you don’t have to pretend, when you write like there is no tomorrow, you surprise even yourself with the unexpected outcome. Your imagination takes you to places you would not have dared to go in your usual state of mind. And sometimes, these places reveal unexpected sides of you. They open you up raw.

Am I ready for the world to see me? As a sci-fi writer with a crazy story to tell? – No way! But the book is written, and maybe for a good reason. Maybe it can help someone to realise something important too. Like it helped me to speak my truth. And maybe it is time for me to let this story out.

So, who am I when no one is watching?

Hi, I am Nemetra, a sci-fi and fantasy writer trying to make a difference in the world.

I would attempt to describe my book as psychological sci-fi with elements of contemporary realism. But there is also so much of me on the pages. Me, like no one has seen before.

My book ‘Normal Weird’ is a love letter for anyone who has ever struggled to fit in and for those who can’t stop asking questions about who we are becoming as a new generation of humans. It is a futuristic story of self-discovery created in a futuristic upside-down world where weird becomes normal and normal becomes weird. Does anyone truly know which one is which?

And I guess the fear of revealing this information is the one we all share – will you get me? Will you accept me as I am in the secret corners of my wondering mind?
