Who are you?
Rightly said, to know the purpose of a thing, you must ask the creator of that thing, as it is only the creator that can accurately define his creation.
Who are you?
The answer to this question does not come from societal standards or cultural interpretations of what people feel is accurate, as it isn’t even about how you feel most of the time.
Who you are is your identity. Hogg and Abrams, in a research, conducted in 1988 defined identity as people’s concepts of who they are, of what sort of people they are, and how they relate to others. Yourdictionary.com defines it as who you are, the way you think about yourself, the way you are viewed by the world and the characteristics that define you.
Your identity, therefore, is what makes you you and that cannot be taken away from you no matter what. Your identity is everything about you- not just in thoughts or in acceptance, but your attitude, carriage, behavior, and actions.
One of the earliest mistakes I see in our understanding of identity is in our thinking that our identity is how we express purpose, instead of what our purpose is. Your identity is not what you do but why you do what you do
Have you ever been frustrated because you lost a job or a contract- one of the major reasons (amongst so many others) why this happens is because we often place our identities in those things and thus find fulfilment thereof- however, if, for instance, you were a public speaker and no longer have a platform to speak- because speaking isn’t your purpose, but how you express it- the idea been that you want to see people become better- you can express this through other means. This is only possible if you understand who you are.
Who you are cannot be taken away from you, as it is the reason you are in existence.
I for one, I’m a wealth of positive energy created in the image and likeness of God to make this world a better place one positive message at a time through all my outlets.
I know I have new connections, so I’ll be sharing a bit more about me subsequently, but the Million Naira Question is:
Do you know what you are?
