Who are you connecting?

Connecting people who should know each other but don't yet is one of life's great pleasures. (It tends to be good for receiving introductions and referrals, too.)
And great connectors are always thinking about who they can connect.
But we do need to know who wants to meet who, and as our networks grow, we need an easy way to search (and find) people to connect.
Who was it who wants to meet with non-profits looking to update their website, now that I'm talking to a non-profit board member complaining about their website?
Who finds fractional CFOs who work with family-run businesses a complimentary partner?
You need a way to keep track of who people want to meet, preferably in whatever system(s) you're using for CRM.
Sometimes, you have to ask people to get more specific about who they'd really like to meet. You don't want to make "bad" connections that waste everyone's time. If someone says they want to meet "small business owners", you probably need more details.
(And "busy small business owners who would like to be less stressed" is an improvement, but not a big one. You want to get down to something like "small business owners on the brink of divorce because they can't turn off work".)
(Mimiran has some features to support being a good connector. See < 2 min video below for more, including how you might think about doing this with a spreadsheet, if that's what you're using for CRM.)
Who are you introducing this week?
Who did you connect last week?
Who in your network is wonderful, but needs to get more specific so you can help them more effectively?

9 个月Reuben Swartz The idea of using a CRM system to manage connection opportunities is genius. It would be amazing to have a searchable database of people's desired connections alongside their contact information.

9 个月Reuben Swartz I'm always thinking of people I can connect. It's one of my favorite things to do as an executive career coach. How easy is it to use this feature in Mimiran?

9 个月Such a cool feature. It's impossible to store everything we know about people in our brains and make all the valuable connections we need to with that information. I hadn't thought about it until now, but if you have all of this data and can give generative AI access to it, it could make some really interesting suggestions about who you can connect.

9 个月Right on with this post!!! Every time someone tells me they "don't have time to take notes" during/after meetings, I say, "then you don't have time to meet with that person." If you don't take notes, you're showing that you don't really care about the person you spoke with, and aren't genuinely intending to try to introduce them to anyone.
