Who Will You Be in 2025? Redefining Identity for Women in Leadership

As the calendar has turned to 2025, many of us are conditioned to set goals, resolutions, and lofty ambitions.

But here’s the truth: resolutions often miss the mark. They focus on doing more, achieving more, and pushing harder, without addressing the foundation of who we need to be to bring those aspirations to life.

For women in leadership, this is critical. Success doesn’t come from longer to-do lists; it comes from cultivating an identity that aligns with the vision you hold for yourself.

Who do you want to be in 2025? What kind of leader, partner, colleague, or friend? How do you want to show up for yourself and others?

The journey to clarity starts with intention. To help you begin, I’ve created five journaling prompts designed to help you reflect, realign, and reimagine your identity for the year ahead.

Take these prompts to heart, spend time with them, and let them guide you as you step into a year of power, purpose, and possibility.

Journaling Prompt #1: What do I need to let go of to fully step into my power this year?

Growth often requires letting go—of habits, beliefs, or patterns that no longer serve you.

  • Are you holding on to people-pleasing tendencies?
  • Do you feel guilty about setting boundaries?
  • Are you ignoring the messages your body is sending about stress or burnout?
  • What are you no longer willing to tolerate?

Journaling Prompt #2: How do I want to feel each day, and what practices will help me embody those feelings?

Many women start their day in reaction mode, letting their calendars dictate their mood. But you can choose how you want to feel—calm, grounded, in control—and implement practices that reinforce those feelings.

  • Could morning meditation set the tone for your day?
  • Would blocking time in your schedule for self-care create more balance?

Embodying your desired feelings isn’t just about mindset; it’s about consistent, intentional action. Think of it like working a muscle. The more that you do this, the more that you will create the neural connections that will allow you to navigate your way through the day, embodying those feelings.

Journaling Prompt #3: If I believed I was already enough, what would I be doing differently?

Imagine you woke up tomorrow knowing, deep in your core, that you are enough.

  • What would change in how you show up at work?
  • How would you treat yourself differently?
  • What opportunities would you pursue that you’ve been avoiding? This prompt is an invitation to reflect on what shifts when self-doubt is no longer in the driver’s seat.

Journaling Prompt #4: What limiting belief am I ready to rewrite, and what truth will I replace it with?

If you’re not sure what your limiting beliefs are, the easiest way to spot them is by looking at your life—examining all areas with honesty and curiosity.

Start with your health:

  • How do you treat yourself and your body?
  • How do you feel when you look in the mirror or get dressed?
  • What does your self-care routine look like?

Then, think about your career path and profession:

  • Are you where you want to be professionally, and financially?
  • Do you love what you do? Is your profession fulfilling you?
  • Are you having an impact on the world?
  • If not, what’s holding you back?

One area I often work on with women is self-sabotage. Many have incredible opportunities to climb the career ladder but find ways to undermine their own success.

Now, let’s talk about money:

  • Are you earning the kind of income you want?
  • Do you believe you deserve to earn more?
  • Does earning multiple six-figure salaries feel safe or attainable to you?

Next, look at your relationships:

  • How do you show up in your relationships?
  • How are you treated by others?
  • Are your relationships with partners, friends, and colleagues uplifting, supportive, and unconditional? Are there relationships in your life that leave you feeling drained? Or are you tolerating being mistreated?

It might surprise you to know that many incredibly successful women in their careers tolerate mistreatment or remain in toxic relationships in their personal lives.

Lastly, consider your financial mindset:

  • How do you feel when you look at your bank account?
  • What's your relationship like with money?

This kind of reflection can feel uncomfortable—I won’t sugar-coat it. But by being raw, real, and honest with yourself, you can begin to create change.

Remember, we can’t change what we can’t see. If you don’t want 2025 to be a cookie-cutter repeat of 2024, now is the time to face these truths head-on and step into your power.

Journaling Prompt #5: What does my dream life look like at the end of 2025, and what is one step I can take today to get closer to it?

A vision without action is just a dream. Envision your ideal life at the end of this year—professionally, personally, and emotionally.

  • What does success look and feel like?
  • What is one small, tangible step you can take today to move toward that vision? Remember, progress doesn’t come from grand gestures; it’s built through consistent, intentional steps.

Stepping Into 2025 With Purpose

This year isn’t about adding more to your plate or chasing unattainable resolutions. It’s about redefining your identity, aligning with your values, and showing up as the woman you’re meant to be.

Take time with these prompts. Journal, reflect and let the answers guide you. As Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

To support you on this journey, I’ve created a free energy technique you can use daily. This simple practice will help you:

  • Raise your vibration,
  • Regulate your nervous system, and
  • Embody the self-worth and belief needed to step into your power in 2025.

When you make this technique a part of your daily routine, you’ll notice the shifts—not just in how you feel, but in how you show up, lead, and create.

This is such a powerful and timely conversation. Women in leadership are uniquely positioned to create cultures of balance, empowerment, and innovation—when they are supported to thrive both personally and professionally. Alignment is key. When leaders are encouraged to align their actions with their values and goals, they lead with greater clarity and purpose, inspiring their teams and driving meaningful change in both work and life. Thank you for sharing this, Sarah. I’d love to hear your thoughts: What practices have you seen help women leaders sustain their energy and confidence over the long term?
