WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE IF........?

WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE IF........?

WHAT IF TRUMP GOT ELECTED??

A CRITICAL THOUGHT OVERLOOKED IN CHOOSING A LEADER FOR THE NEXT CANADIAN ELECTION…YOU BETTER READ THIS OR YOU WILL BE SORRY.?

I wondered, if a country like the USA became a fascist state, what choices would the leader of Canada have to consider to deal with it? Many Americans would seek refuge here; how would our government react to protect our freedoms as the United States reduce their civil rights? Would our government have to accommodate the President's government by moving right and adopting some of their rules, becoming a satellite state? Would S33 of our Charter be invoked so the Prime Minister could exercise powers to suppress our Charter to accommodate the new USA? Would Christian Nationalism flow North? Would independent leaders like Chretian, Pierre Trudeau, Lester Pearson or John Diefenbaker be able to stand up to an American President? How would we end the Populist Movements from the USA, or would our leader have to follow the President's lead? This question is not as fantastic as you may think. We may have to consider this problem with our next election and decide who we choose as a leader to best deal with the USA to keep our democracy. Do we remain independent? Do we keep our values of multiculturalism, bilingualism, and social safety nets, or will we melt into the new USA? What do we want? What type of leader do we choose? Who is the best to lead us into this venture? Canada's leader would undoubtedly face a complex and potentially dangerous situation. The rise of fascism in a neighbouring country would pose a threat to the democratic values that Canada upholds, and the government would be forced to make some tough choices to protect its citizens and preserve its democracy.

?

One of the first challenges the leader of Canada would face is how to respond to an influx of American refugees fleeing the oppressive regime in their own country. With many Americans seeking refuge in Canada, the government would have to decide whether to allow them in and provide them with the necessary support or turn them away to protect its borders and resources.

Additionally, if the USA were to become fascist, it could exert pressure on Canada to align itself with its ideology and policies. Canada's leader would have to decide whether to appease the fascist regime to maintain diplomatic relations and avoid potential conflict or to stand firm in defence of its democratic values and principles.

Suppose diplomatic efforts fail and the fascist regime in the USA poses a direct threat to Canada's democracy. In that case, the government may have to consider using military power to defend itself and its citizens. This could involve strengthening military defences, forming alliances with other democratic nations, and potentially engaging in conflict with the fascist regime to protect Canada's sovereignty and uphold its democratic values.

Overall, the leader of Canada would have a range of options to consider in the face of a fascist USA. From providing refuge to American refugees to standing firm in defence of democracy and potentially using military force if necessary, the government would need to navigate a complex and challenging course.

What type of leadership would Canada need to stand up to the USA? What are the characteristics of such a leader? Is it Trudeau, Polliever, or someone else? The person must possess several essential qualities to effectively navigate the challenging international situation and protect the country's sovereignty and democracy. Our allies would be few and overseas. Would we be alone in North America?

Canada would need to be, first and foremost, Canada would need a leader who is courageous and resilient, willing to stand firm in defence of democratic principles and values even in the face of potential pressure or threats from a fascist regime. This leader must be able to make tough decisions and take decisive action to protect the country's interests and ensure the well-being of its citizens.

In addition, Canada's leader would need to be diplomatic and skilled in negotiating with other countries, including the USA, to maintain peace and stability while advocating democratic values. Building strong international alliances with other democratic nations would be crucial in amplifying Canada's voice and influence on the global stage.

Furthermore, the leader of Canada would need to be a unifying figure who can rally the support of the Canadian people behind a common cause of defending democracy and standing up to authoritarian threats. This leader must inspire confidence and trust in their leadership and effectively communicate the importance of upholding democratic values in the face of external threats.

The leader would need to have the courage to raise monies to build a much more vital military force and be able to deal with the ramifications of economic trading threats from the USA. There may be a price to pay for our democracy. Will our new Prime Minister stand up for our democracy or sell out to protect low taxes? These are accurate decisions you may face.

Overall, Canada would need a courageous, diplomatic, and unifying leader to oppose the fascist USA and defend its democracy. By possessing these qualities and garnering support from the Canadian people, the leader would be better equipped to navigate a challenging international situation and protect the country's democratic values and sovereignty.

Considering leadership, there is another issue: the tendency of the Canadian electorate to move toward America through populist movements. What would the Canadian leader need to do with respect to these movements in the face of populism in Canada, which is trending from the USA influencing us? In the USA, The Canadian leader would need to take a strategic and proactive approach to address the concerns and grievances of the electorate while upholding democratic values and principles. Here are some steps the leader could take:

  1. Listen and engage: The leader should actively listen to the concerns and grievances of the electorate that are driving support for populist movements. Engaging with these groups and understanding their motivations can help leaders develop policies and messaging that resonate with many Canadians.
  2. Address underlying issues: Populist movements often tap into legitimate concerns such as economic inequality, lack of opportunities, and feelings of disenfranchisement. The leader should address these underlying issues through policies promoting economic growth, social inclusion, and equal opportunities for all Canadians.
  3. Uphold democratic norms: The leader must defend democratic norms and institutions against populist rhetoric that may seek to undermine them. This includes respecting the rule of law, freedom of the press, and the independence of the judiciary.
  4. Build trust and transparency: The leader should strive to build trust with the electorate by being transparent and accountable in decision-making. This can help counter the appeal of populist movements that thrive on a perception of establishment secrecy and corruption.
  5. Promote inclusion and diversity: Populist movements often prey on fear and division. The leader should promote inclusivity, diversity, and tolerance and celebrate the multicultural fabric of Canadian society. This can help build a sense of unity and resilience against divisive populist rhetoric.
  6. Focus on evidence-based policies: The leader should prioritize evidence-based policies grounded in facts and data rather than rhetoric and emotion. This can help counter populist movements that rely on simplistic solutions and scapegoating marginalized groups.

By taking these steps, the Canadian leader can effectively address and potentially mitigate the influence of populist movements in Canada while upholding democratic values and promoting a more inclusive and prosperous society for all Canadians.

These are just thoughts for discussion. The informed voter should consider them when choosing future leadership candidates and voting in our next election.
