If you've been following me for a while you'll know that I love Brene Brown's work.?If that name is new to you then you'll want to go and watch her Ted Talk on Vulnerability - it's amazing!
Brene talks about our innate need as humans for connection.??
Whether you are an introvert or extrovert, feeling part of something matters.
Teams can’t be successful without each member knowing they are deeply connected to their teammates and that their contribution is appreciated.?
We all need to be connected to other human beings to have a sense of who we are in the world. The importance of this connection can be seen very clearly when you look closely at a team.?
Each member needs to feel they are accepted for who they are and what they bring to the table.?
Even if one member of the team feels left out or unappreciated, teamwork breaks down. Everything is a little more challenging when you have a member of the group resisting the forward mobility of what you are trying to accomplish.
Have you been on a team like that??Who hasn't right!?Ugh, when you're in that place it can feel impossible to resolve.??
As a leader of a team, you can make a difference.
Start building a connected atmosphere by letting each member know their ideas and effort is vital to the success of the project.
Bring your people together to create and agree group norms that each person commits to.
I'd love to hear how you get on.?
