AUSTRALIA

“Great to speak with @narendramodi today to congratulate him on his election victory. Australia and India are close friends, with strong strategic, economic and cultural ties. We look forward to growing our partnership in 2024 and beyond,” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.

PHILIPPINES

Philippines President Bongbong Marcos sent warmest congratulations to Modi for securing a fresh mandate. “The last decade has shown India as a sincere friend to the Philippines & I look forward to the further strengthening of our bilateral and regional partnership in the years ahead,” he said.

BRAZIL

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva wished Modi a very successful third term in promoting sustainable development, combating inequalities and strengthening cooperation between our countries. “Brazil and India are allies in confronting injustices in the international order and in the fight against hunger and poverty. May we meet at the G20 and IBSA Summits here in Brazil and continue working together,” he posted on X.

NEW ZEALAND

“Warm congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Indian election results. Wonderful to see the celebration of democracy in the world’s largest voting exercise. I look forward to working with India’s Government to achieve a meaningful lift in New Zealand-India ties,” New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said.

CANADA

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated Modi for securing a third term in the Lok Sabha elections. “Congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his electoral victory. Canada stands ready to work with his government to advance the relationship between our nations’ peoples — anchored to human rights, diversity, and the rule of law,” the Canadian Prime Minister’s official account on X quoted Trudeau as saying.

ICELAND

Earlier today, Modi thanked Iceland Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson after he wished BJP for its victory in the world’s largest democratic election in history. “Congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi and the BJP on your victory in the world’s largest democratic election in history. I look forward to deepening Iceland and India’s cooperation through our newly signed trade and economic partnership agreement,” Iceland’s PM said.

ISRAEL

Congratulating Modi, Israel’s opposition leader Yair Lapid said India-Israel ties will continue to go from strength to strength under him. “India held the world’s largest election and it was a triumph of democracy. Congratulations to @narendramodi on his victory. I am sure that under his leadership relations between India and Israel will continue to go from strength to strength,” Lapid said.

FRANCE

Modi received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron during which both leaders promised to take bilateral ties to “newer heights.” “Delighted to receive a phone call from my dear friend, @EmmanuelMacron. Conveyed my commitment to work together to accomplish the ambitious ‘Horizon 2047’ roadmap. The strong and trusted Strategic Partnership between India & France is slated to scale newer heights in the times to come,” Modi said.

MOHAMED BIN ZAYED

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed extended his “sincere congratulations to my friend” Modi and wished him success in leading India to further progress. “Our two countries enjoy a deeply rooted strategic partnership and I look forward to our continued collaboration aimed at advancing the shared development goals of our nations and our peoples,” he said in a message posted in English, Arabic and Hindi on X. Congratulating Modi on his re-election, Egyptian President El-Sisi said Egypt looks forward to working together in the coming years to open-up broader prospects for enhancing the historical relations the two countries and their friendly peoples share, and to leveraging the potential available for their joint efforts. “I wish the Indian Prime Minister success and the Indian people further development and prosperity,” he said.

LAI CHING-TE

Taiwan President Lai Ching-te congratulated Modi and said: “We look forward to enhancing the fast-growing #Taiwan-#India partnership, expanding our collaboration on trade, technology & other sectors to contribute to peace & prosperity in the #IndoPacific.” China also congratulated Modi on the victory of the BJP-led NDA coalition in the general elections and said it stands ready to work with India bearing in mind the overall interests of bilateral ties.

OTHERS

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim were among the leaders who congratulated Modi on his election victory.

Other leaders included Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness, former Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa, Vice President of Maldives Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Lithuania President Gitanas Naus?da, President of Kenya William Samoei Ruto, and Iran’s interim President Mohammad Mokhber.

INVITEES

Multiple reports said that India is likely to invite leaders of a number of its neighboring countries, including Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, to the swearing-in ceremony of Modi. Top leaders of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives and Mauritius are likely to be among the foreign leaders to be invited for Modi’s oath-taking ceremony.
