Who and what is VitalHub UK?
I am regularly asked to explain what VitalHub UK comprises of, what we are trying to achieve, and what is our overall aim.
?
What and who is VitalHub UK?
VitalHub UK is a wholly owned subsidiary of VitalHub Corporation, based out of Toronto Canada, whose core purpose is to develop an ecosystem of harmonious digital solutions that improve care quality and delivery, optimise financial performance, and enhance patient outcomes, across health and care services. VitalHub UK currently works with over 1000 healthcare organisations in the UK, from Acute, Ambulance and Community Trusts, to ICBs, Regions and Primary Care, enabling health and social care staff, whether strategic execs or front-line teams, to have access to a joined up technological infrastructure.
?
VitalHub UK began with the acquisition of MCAP (‘Making Care Appropriate for Patients’) in 2019, shortly followed by the acquisitions of Intouch with Health, Synopsis, Transforming Systems (SHREWD), S12 Solutions, Jayex Acute, Alamac, Beautiful Information, HICOM, and most recently, MyPathway (formerly ADI Health).
The amalgamation of these accomplished UK health-tech companies has enabled VitalHub UK to become the leading experts in patient flow, offering a comprehensive range of digital tools, spanning multiple pathways and sectors within health and social care.

The VHUK offering can be broken down into four areas:

o??SHREWD - A?real-time, Control Centre visibility platform?that provides oversight of whole system pathways, supporting improved operational flow and safer, more effective care for patients.
o??Beautiful Information – A real-time Patient Tracking List (PTL) system that helps streamline each step of a patient’s journey to avoid unnecessary delays in both UEC and Elective Care, that can be used as an electronic bed management system to support waiting list management.
o??Alamac – A intelligence support service that collates and reviews healthcare performance information to provide insight into improvement and transformation needs and progress.
?
·???????Patient Management:
o??Intouch with Health - A real-time platform for elective care services,?that enables teams to manage entire?patient workflows?and optimise flow in?outpatient pathways, more effectively.
o??Synopsis – An online pre-operative assessment platform that enables patients to digitally complete health questionnaires in the hospital at home, with inbuilt algorithm-based risk assessments to support clinical decision-making.
o??MCAP - A?digital decision support tool that utilises evidence-based clinical criteria to signpost the most appropriate care for patients, in both inpatient settings and community-based caseloads, as well as waiting list management.

What are we trying to achieve?
We are bridging our solutions together in a phased approach, where they naturally fit, by area at first, and then more widely. Here are three examples of how we are developing our ecosystem.
Data Driven Care:
In our Healthcare Intelligence area, we have SHREWD, which offers a market-leading tool that provides visualisation of whole-system Urgent and Elective flow, delivering prescriptive intelligence to strategic decision makers, but the need to drill down into patient-level data has become ever more apparent in recent years. By joining forces with Beautiful Information’s Patient Tracking Lists, we can provide a greater level of visibility of patient and system-level data, all from one platform. This can be further enhanced with the addition of the Alamac toolkit, which takes data from both SHREWD and Beautiful Information to analyse data relationships and report on what trajectory systems are heading in, as well as building a picture of how systems reached their current positions to understand what can be done differently next time. By combining the strengths of these three solutions, we can quickly offer a solution that is currently not available in the marketplace.
?
Patient-Centred Pathways:
In the Patient Management area, Intouch with Health is currently deployed in over one hundred hospitals with a focus on managing Outpatient Flow, however, it currently starts and ends with the outpatient appointment. By linking that platform with the MyPathway Portal, patients can manage their own clinical pathway from home, and then link it to any outpatient appointments seamlessly, allowing them to be informed about their upcoming appointments, check themselves in, be called from department to department, and be given access to wayfinding information, via one consolidated app.
?
Waiting List Management:
By combining our MCAP tool and our MyPathway portal we can offer strategic and tactical assistance to the NHS to manage their waiting lists. We have enhanced the MCAP software in conjunction with NHSE to enable the appropriateness evaluation of the Referral To Treatment (RTT) and Non-RTT Dermatology & Gynaecology patient appointment lists.
MCAP will enable a Trust to review a patient against approved clinical criteria, for both RTTs and Non-RTTs, to evaluate whether the patient needs to be seen in a new referral or a follow up appointment.
Following this review, patients who are deemed ‘Non-Qualified’ can be contacted through our MyPathway portal and effectively triage themselves, potentially increasing capacity and reducing the waiting list backlog.
?
What is our long-term aim?
Our long-term aim is to provide the NHS and healthcare markets with an end-to-end ecosystem of solutions, that bridge gaps between Urgent, Elective, Community and Mental Health care, and can be used at a granular level at Acute Departmental or Community Clinic levels but can also support the management of patients and care across regions and wider ICBs.
