On 11 September, staff at the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe took part in the Career Fair hosted by UN City in Copenhagen.
The fair saw the participation of all UN agencies in the building, supported by the associations of: junior doctors (YL); law, business, political and social sciences (Dj?f); and engineers (IDA).
There was a strong turnout and very positive feedback for the welcome “meet and greet” part of the event.
Feedback was also very positive for the two seminars held for early- and mid-career professionals. Both seminars were supported by WHO staff, who came and interacted with young doctors interested in a career at the United Nations.
“A number of UN agencies congratulated WHO on how well we had prepared for the event, having so many staff available to meet the participants,” said David Kavanagh, Human Resources Officer for Talent Acquisition and Sourcing at WHO/Europe. “This was the case not only during the meet and greets, but also during the two final seminars in which participants got to hear tips on early- and mid-career opportunities.”
The event was an opportunity for WHO staff to talk about their own experience working for the Organization, also sharing some of their personal views on what it really means for them to be part of the WHO family.
David says that Antons Mozalevskis and Ryoko Takahasi in particular spoke of their personal passion for, and commitment to, the mandate of WHO.
“And this was truly inspiring to hear,” he says.
As part of the larger mission of working as “One UN,” WHO has been involved in the planning and coordination of the UN City Career Fair since its inception five years ago.
This has been the case especially when working alongside staff from UN City and from other agencies in the building.
