Who is a Success?

Who is a Success?

There's outliers and then there's OUTLIERS!!!

Everyone has a different definition of financial success. Salary is just one (clearly very important) piece. But there's a lot more to everyone's story. What I've found is people reach a level they thought in the past was successful and still don't feel made satisfied or whole or even secure at a fundamental level. Expenses go up just as fast as incomes do, sometimes at a much faster rate. It's not just what you make or even what you keep.

It's how you view, control, and use the tools that having better salaries, more money, greater opportunities give us access to. The experiences we can have. The legacy we create. But if our entire concept of success is set at impossibly high hurdles, what are we setting ourselves up for, especially a generation coming up right now? We have to have a mindset of thankfulness, gratitude, and appreciation for what we have, at every level. It's light years ahead of previous generations despite all the challenges that need to be overcome.

It's no wonder we have ended up in this situation. When there's an app for everything, friction disappears. Of course we want what others have, immediately, without thinking about the trade offs and other long term costs and consequences.

Focusing on the right long term things and being proactive around them are by definition adding friction to using money today to satisfy our own desires - when we think of it that way, the only rational thing to do is spendspendspend.

We are living in an outlier time with some outlier people we need to learn from. Warren Buffett is clearly a 1 of 1:

When Warren speaks

we

listen.

When you think about it, who has built a better community than Warren Buffett? Of course we don't think of it that way, and it may be a bit of a stretch - I just thought of this right now as I'm writing this bc community has been top of mind for me. People cling to his words, take his advice, come to his meetings...he may not have purposely set out to this, but there are definitely communities built around his words and work.

It's been on my mind this Thanksgiving season because being part of incredible communities - online and offline - has been the most impactful, beneficial thing I've ever done. And I've been building my own community here through lives and content and events that lead to incredible relationships.

I'm hosting community builder extraordinaire Maayan Gordon on Thursday the 5th at 12:30 to discuss how to build with purpose and impact and incredible value in ways that change lives and businesses. Please join, interact and engage and expand your own community.

There's no better way to secure the bag!

Doesn’t matter the generation. Successful people don’t talk about success-they’re too busy living it.
