Who Reads Your Content?

Who Reads Your Content?

The Amtower Report #358, 11/11/19

If content is king, and making content findable is the ace, then the wild card is, “Will they read it?”

Without some extraordinary luck in timing and placement, the answer is usually going to be, “No.”

Why?

Like everyone else, Feds have limited time so they read things from companies and people they know, like, trust, and work with. If you do not fall within those parameters, the likelihood of being “read” drops precipitously according to the 2019 Content Marketing Review from Market Connections, Inc.

What improves the odds for content being read, listened to, or viewed? Here are a few tips.

1)   Being germane to what the client needs, preferably in the time-frame they need it;

2)   Relatively short and straight to the point. Don’t bring in tangential issues;

3)   A title that accurately reflects the subject matter and grabs their attention;

4)   Content that does not “sell a solution,” but presents an option;

5)   Content that is not gated;

6)   Something from a verifiable SME;

7)   Content that includes actual data, not simply opinion or speculation;

8)   Content tailored to a specific agency or technology;

9)   Content that uses graphics;

10) Publishing and producing content regularly.

11) Putting the content where it can be easily found and (hopefully) shared by others.

Building an audience for your content is an incremental process. These tips do not guarantee your content will be read, but following them will dramatically improve the odds in your favor.

Thanks for reading and have a great week!

? > > MUST ATTEND FALL 2019 EVENTS < < <

Why are these events “must attend?” They meet my three major requirements for attending events:

1)   Pedigree of the event producer. Each of these companies is a major player and contributor to the market;

2)   Excellent information will be shared at each event;

3)   The networking will be great.

Let me know which events you are attending.
