Who owned a Zenith TV?

For us old-timer's (Yes me!) this is the kind of TV that might have been in your house? And yes people, we DID not have a remote! Laughing, we actually got exercise when you had to turn the channel every time! My amazing dad growing up worked and sold Zenith TVs to the local small-town stores, where everyone went to buy their TV's, Maytag's and Frigidaire's for their homes. You also probably knew the owner, let's just call him Fred, since he was the one you trusted and always bought from. That's another article though! Smiling. These brands at the time were considered the very best. Why you ask? Because of a crazy thing called Quality. Zenith's slogan used to be " The quality goes in before the name goes on." What a concept? Today we throw TV's away sometimes after a few years, versus these tv's would last sometimes 10, 15, maybe even 20 years. It was truly a piece of furniture and viewed that way. Today we have more technology then ever? More education than ever? What is the secret that Zenith, or others had back then but did not survive the world of Samsung, and others.
I am just going to say it! I don't think Quality is enough. Yes, i am a rebel. At our company, quality is a core value so critically important, but so is honesty, integrity, teamwork, respect, responsibility. Can quality stand on its own if there is not a culture to support it? I say no but I don't honestly know the whole story at Zenith. It would be amazing to rewind our clocks and look in to see the company then compared to now and put the pieces together? Remember quality can mean a lot of things also, like the quality of people, quality of parts, quality of dealers, you can go on and on. I do believe that we are forgetting that any great product or organization should be led by Quality but followed by the culture to support the roadmap of people, product and service. Quality alone without the other supporting cast just might make you the Zenith of tomorrow.

10 个月Love this article #Angie! While quality is definitely a leading ingredient in the recipe, I think more values and a strong company culture bring that secret sauce that completes the dish! Great article.
I remember it like it was yesterday. Same with having to move the rabbit ears to get better reception. For you youngsters out there, PM me and I’ll explain rabbit ears??. Great post Angie Barnes.
