Who will ...?

Who will ...?

There was a grocery shop in town. Many mice lived in the grocery shop. They ate plenty of grains and the grocer suffered heavy loss. The mice ate everything and spoiled all the bags. They also wasted the bread, biscuits and fruits of the shop.

The grocer got really worried. So, he thought, “I should buy a cat and let it stay at the grocery. Only then can I save my things.” So he bought a nice, big, fat cat and let her stay at the shop. The cat had a nice time hunting the mice and killing them. The mice could not move freely now and were stuck hiding in their individual crevices. Their sense of community which they usually enjoyed during 'feasting' times, was lost. They wanted to do something, but they couldn’t even risk meeting together as a group. Therefore, they created an online platform to discuss this issue. Every member contributed with hashtag, #getridofthecat.

No plausible solution came up except for the constant brooding by the members.

Finally, one of the smartest mice sent in his tweet. And it read, “The cat moves softly, that is why it was able to catch the others unawares. That is the problem. The solution is that we should tie a bell around the cat’s neck, so that we can know its movement and therefore strategize our own movements. Then things will be fine. Problem solved.”

Oh! There was an out-pour of likes, retweets and comments of commendation. How smart this mouse was!! They all agreed. #yeswecan #kickassanswer #catbuttkicked #freetomove

Then, a tweet came in from a rather quiet, old mouse, who was hardly active on the platform. The mice could have easily dismissed this tweet as inconsequential because of the source. Except that they couldn't. The tweet got the platform quiet and it has been so since. It was almost as if this tweet had multiplied all the retweets and likes and comments by zero.

This tweet was a simple question. And it read, “Who would tie the bell?”

Love the Fable. So much wisdom from your Continent. “Who will hang the bell?”. Many are called, few are chosen. “Are you ready to fight the real revolution?” Keep writing. I’ll read.
