Hello Giada, thank you for being here! Can you tell us about how you joined BK?

Hello, thank you! I arrived in Burger King almost by chance, I was unemployed because my previous “office” job did not end well. I was browsing in a career website when I saw an open position in Burger King Italy, they needed to form the crew for a new restaurant opening in Rome. I applied and shortly after I received a call: in 2016 I joined the crew of the new restaurant.

So, I moved from a desk and laptop job to a completely different experience: interacting with many people and running across a restaurant.

I remember my family did not fully support my choice. In fact, at the time, I was living alone, outside Rome so I had to commute 30 km to get to work, and my job was part-time. Despite their pressure, I stood my ground because I immediately started appreciating the job. Eventually, my career growth spoke for itself, convincing and reassuring my family that this job is the right place for me.

You have been here for a while! How has your experience evolved in time?

Things change all the time here! As soon as I settled into the new routine, I was proposed to become Restaurant Manager. I didn’t feel ready, I knew I would have had to move to another city and start a challenging training path, so I didn’t accept. Yet, some months later, I was asked again, and I thought it’s now or never. And because I truly loved the job, I said let’s go!

So, I moved to Milan to follow the training for Restaurant Managers. A few months passed and fate brought me back to my hometown, a new restaurant in Rome needed a Manager and I took that role. Eventually, I transitioned as Restaurant Manager to that very Burger King restaurant where in 2016 I joined the company.

How is your experience working with the crew?

I love this job, every part of it. I always tell the crew that we are like a family: we spend together most of the week, so colleagues come to feel like relatives.

Personally, I need to be continuously stimulated, otherwise I get bored, and here I get this constant development. I enjoy taking trainings and training colleagues, especially when they are young, and I can support their growth.

Working and growing together really changes you, both professionally and personally. If I look back 7 years, I see myself being very shy, while this job made me flourish and opened many doors for me. I am now team oriented, and I am often told that I keep the crew tight. Okay, when I’m under pressure, I sometimes get a bit nervous, but it is valuable that my team is united and very precise also under pressure!

What is keeping you in Burger King Restaurants Italia?

Who knows me knows it: I adore my job in Burger King. All my friends and family know that this is the right job for me, and I am very happy in it.

This job is full of adrenaline: when you are in the kitchen, you have little time to make things perfect, you must be focused and fast. Our customers want to be served quickly and, in some way, you make yourself grow 10 arms and 10 legs to satisfy them! Then you look back and you realise it felt great, it seemed impossible, but you made it. It is not only about making a burger, but there is also a lot of passion and satisfaction in this job.

I was also very lucky with my colleagues, the ones who trained me and those who I am now supervising. If I feel good at work, in the place and the people I spend most time with, then I am happy and satisfied every day. Here I keep achieving goals and feeling satisfied, and I hope to keep working and growing with my colleagues and this company for a long time ahead.
