Happy Friday! As yet another week flies by... Hope yours has been as fabulous as mine ??

My week started off with the last day of the Business Blueprint Conference. With my Masterclass talks finished on Thursday night, I could just sit & enjoy the incredible speakers but on Monday it was back into a full day of Round Table talks - with me meeting with members of Business Blueprint to answer questions about EOS & how to create a better life through creating a better business. I always enjoy sharing the EOS love!

One of my favourite parts of Business Blueprint is a session on tech tools that are equal parts exciting & useful. There’s always something interesting for Jen & I to have a play with afterwards. I've got a long list of things for us to try this time around - I'll share more later!

And of course, the best part is connecting with other members & mentors. The Business Blueprint community is full of lovely humans who are genuinely excited about business, so I really enjoy having these conversations.

Talking of lovely humans, last week I had a blast on a walk & talk with Anna Parker – an ex-lawyer who did work in the high court & now works helping businesses get the right insurance, based on her experiences of being on the other side. I found her work fascinating and she’s just an amazing person to chat with! I love finding good people that I can recommend to my clients.

It hasn’t all been roses though, I have lost my reMarkable which has been a real pain. I’ve looked everywhere but fingers crossed it shows up soon! I haven’t stopped using it since I got it & I’m missing it sorely.

Ending on a good note though, my personal training is going well & I'm feeling so much better these days!

BETTER BUSINESS : The Three-Headed Monster

Family businesses rarely survive past the second generation.

This article explores the Econoco Corporation, a family business that is now in its 97th year. If you work in or with family businesses, this is an amazing case study that digs into the issues they faced that are unique to family businesses & how they overcame these obstacles.

There’s so much at stake when working with your loved ones. Business issues & conflicts left untreated can fracture the entire family. It’s one of the biggest downsides of working in a family business. And as said before, many don’t last after one succession.

For Econoco Corporation, they faced a huge problem after the succession from the first generation to the next.

There were 3 people heading the business & for 20 years they were known as the Three-Headed Monster because they all had different views on the direction of the company. Employees started asking whichever person would give the easiest answer .... or the answer they wanted.

It was seriously dysfunctional but luckily, they were somehow still successful.

Then one of the three heads discovered & implemented EOS. With EOS, everyone in Econoco Corporation finally started following one vision and heading in the same direction.

And their immense growth since then speaks for itself. In 2021, Econoco grew from around 55 staff to nearly 70 staff. And for the last seven months straight, they have broken sales records that have extended back 97 years!

BETTER LIFE : Personal Trainers work!

I’ve been trying to be healthier & this year I’ve put in extra effort to be consistent with going to the gym.

So, for months now, my week starts off at my gym, Vision Personal Training Ponsonby, at 6am on a Monday. It sounds painful but I actually love the early start, it’s a great way to kick off the week.

They say in their headline ‘Best Personal Trainers in Ponsonby’ and I couldn’t agree more. I love & hate my personal trainer – which means she is fantastic at pushing me & holding me accountable.

I still have fun at networking events with nibbles & wine – although I often bring my alcohol-free wine to be extra good. I still eat chocolate, just in moderation & a tiny bit extra only when I really want it.

I’ve lost 3.4kg but more importantly, I’m just feeling 100% better!

I love their approach and it’s also like EOS too, where you are actively pursuing your goals while making time for other passions. It doesn’t require you to completely cut out things that are important to you - like me having the occasional wine & chocolates.

Honestly, life is just too short to restrict your happiness in the journey towards your goals – because you always are working towards something, right? Especially as entrepreneurs, we’re in the endless pursuit of the next big thing.

FIND OF THE WEEK : Do you always leave your wallet behind?

Since I got this new phone case, I have everything I need in one hand & never have to worry about misplacing cards! (just reMarkables!)
