Who Keeps Our Plants Alive?
J Sherman Studio
We push pixels and ink with purpose to create impactful strategy and design for clients who are done with the status quo
Our very own Studio green thumb, Julie McCarthy!
June’s illustration features ferns! This time of year it's easy to find lush foliage outside. But who at the Studio brings the outdoors indoors on a regular basis... nurturing foliage the way we nurture our business and the ways we collaborate as a team? Any other plant parents out there!?
We have one self-described plant mama in the Studio—and that is our own Julie M who can’t resist talking to houseplants or pruning dead leaves (from her own plants or any house that is lucky to have her visit). In fact, Julie M,?within a few weeks of working at the Studio, propagated our “pass it on” plant which now lives quite happily at her house!
In addition to Julie's plant-whispering talents, she's also known at the studio for her whimsical digital illustrations and her obsession with typefaces. Here’s a tip from Juile about how she works with all the different font options out there:
"While it’s tempting to stick to what you know, there are so many interesting typography trends that emerge each year. Lately I’ve been following along and experimenting with them to get out of my comfort zone. My current favorite trend is when designs use pixel-esque imagery and type. The pixel trend brings a nostalgic playfulness to designs—perhaps it holds a special place in my heart because it reminds me of my beloved childhood Tamagotchi. Exploring and then putting your own spin on type trends is a great way to have fun in your communications and branding—pick a trend and give it a go!"

"Illustration is mesmerizing to me. I like the way the lines come together to form something beautiful. Add a strong concept to the mix and I’m in love.”
