I started working as a QC Assistant in 2017 and when I performed my first GMP inspection within the first few months since my appointment, I immediately fell in love with audits! I also attended the VACCP/TACCP workshop by Progress Excellence in 2017 and was super impressed! Since then, I've been working towards being associated with these amazing people and companies. I worked my way up from assistant to Technical Manager over the years in the dried fruit, nut and olive industry, and in 2019, I contacted Debbie Brandt. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, our discussions came to a standstill. In 2022, I contacted Debbie again and we had an amazing discussion. Few months later, I resigned and became part of the most progressive, passionate, and awe-inspiring group of people!

I always make time for planning and preparation before I facilitate a workshop. Preparation is half of the game! During the workshop, I love meeting all the interesting people and hearing the stories from their respective industries. I believe the best way to learn is to learn from each other's successes and failures, and it's an absolute highlight to be able to provide that space for delegates to share this. Also, being paid to talk about my favourite thing in the entire world, food safety systems, is an added bonus ;D I think the most challenging part for me is to provide our virtual delegates with the same level of passion, energy and personal connection as face-to-face delegates. But I never shy away from a challenge

The biggest thing I've noticed is the culture towards food safety. Food safety and the systems are becoming a way of life for most people. It's no longer just a certificate on the wall that a QC Manager dusts off once a year for the audit. The integration into the business culture and operations is remarkable.

I am a massive FOODIE! New cuisines and flavours, fine-dining, casual dining, you name it. So, my love for quality of food has impacted my love for food safety - they go hand in hand! I also love reading fictional books (big Wilbur Smith fan!), trivia, and spending time with my fur-babies. All of this instils again the fact that I'm first and foremost a consumer and the right to food safety and quality is a given.

Definitely my partner! He is extremely hard-working, ambitious, and industrious, but always makes time for the special people in his life. He taught me that planning is key, to think things through, and always be honest with myself. He is the best team member to go through life with!
