Types of Investors in Rwanda:

An individual or entity not a Rwandan national or resident of East African Community (EAC) partner states, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) member states, or any other common market protocol entered into by Rwanda.

A company or partnership registered in Rwanda with foreign capital from outside these regions, constituting at least 51% of the invested capital.

An individual who provides financial support to startups in exchange for equity or quasi-equity.

?????????????????????????? ????????????????:

An investor who contributes at least $20,000,000 USD to establish an entity in Rwanda with a primary focus on social impact, adhering to guidelines set by the Private Investment Committee

?????????? ?????? ???????????? ???????????????? (??????):

An investor with:

  • Annual turnover of less than 100 million Rwandan Francs (FRW 100,000,000).
  • Net capital investments of less than 75 million Rwandan Francs (FRW 75,000,000).
  • Employment of 10 to 100 workers.

A document issued by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) outlining the benefits and facilitation available to the investor.

Eligibility: Investors must meet specific capital and investment thresholds.

Timeframe: 6 hours

Step 1:

Approval of the company name and submission of the application.

Step 2:

Obtain a Certificate of Incorporation.

Domestic Company:

  • Copy of ID/Passport
  • Two copies of the Memorandum of Association
  • Email & telephone number

Foreign Company/Branch:

  1. Power of attorney (notarized)
  2. Notarized copy of the Memorandum and Articles of Association
  3. Notarized Certificate of Registration/Incorporation from the home country
  4. Notarized resolution for branch establishment
  5. Passport copies of shareholders/directors
  6. List of directors residing in Rwanda (at least one)
  7. Email & telephone number
