Who to follow on LinkedIn if you work in Advertising or Marketing

If you're looking to expand your network, seeking a new job or simply want to boost your career there's no denying the power of LinkedIn. But to get the maximum benefits from the platform, you can't stop there - it has long been argued that following industry influencers will give your career an additional edge.

Initially LinkedIn opened it's publishing platform to a select few influencers to share their original content, but in 2014 they gave every member the ability to publish posts. Since then professionals and 'thought leaders' all across the globe have seized the opportunity to communicate with a business audience. Many LinkedIn members, including me, have embraced the chance to share their insights with others around the world (which is where the algorithm sometimes allows your content to go).

Following someone on LinkedIn allows you to pick up on their insights and expertise, access any articles they write, as well as the engagements he or she has with other members. But actually finding these influencers to follow who you feel you can genuinely learn from is easier said than done. In my experience it's not as simple as entering keywords into a search field.

Below I've pulled together a list of influencers I would recommend you follow if you work in Advertising or Marketing having found each of them over recent times.

My criteria for narrowing this list down was simple: These influencers post original content I find relevant and compelling as an Ad man (with no self-improvement fluff) and they must write and share articles semi-regularly.
