Recently, significant advancements have emerged in the AI industry, with Liang Wenfeng, the founder of DeepSeek, playing a key role in these developments. Over the past few weeks, the open-source AI platform DeepSeek has introduced strong competition to proprietary AI systems like ChatGPT and Claude.

Who is Liang?Wenfeng?

Liang Wenfeng, the 39-year-old founder and CEO of the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek Baptista (2025), is a Chinese entrepreneur and businessman. He is also the co-founder of the quantitative hedge fund High-Flyer Wikipedia (2025).

Liang Wenfeng is often regarded as the “Musk” of China’s tech ecosystem, having revolutionized the AI industry and shifted China’s position from being a follower to a leader in technology (Starkman, 2025).

Behind the scenes, Liang Wenfeng is driven by a passion for innovation and solutions that address human needs. He believes that AI has the potential to transform industries beyond conventional approaches to AI development (Sahin, 2025). Could this truly be the case? Can AI be leveraged to build a self-sustaining ecosystem on this planet? Can AI address global concerns such as agriculture, food production, and development?

Liang Wenfeng is among those who have demonstrated that AI implementation can achieve far more than previously imagined. His vision for AI was evident when he rejected a partnership opportunity at DJI, the world’s leading drone company. Even as a student, he chose to carve his own path?—?one that ultimately led to revolutionary advancements in the AI industry (Sahin, 2025).

With a strong focus on leveraging AI development, he conceived the idea of integrating AI into finance and market analysis?—?offering a more advanced approach compared to traditional methods. Despite facing numerous challenges in bringing this idea to life, he ultimately succeeded with the establishment of the hedge fund High-Flyer. High-Flyer utilizes artificial intelligence to predict market trends and assist in investment decisions (Ma, 2025).

He shook the tech industry with the release of DeepSeek, an AI development company that created LLM models that are less costly to operate and require fewer resources. These models were developed as open-source solutions.
