Who is Elohim?

Hello Friends,

Elohim is a Hebrew name for God and it is the plural form of the word Eloah (Strong's #430), which is singular for God. In the Holy Bible, when Elohim is written, it is referring to the Holy Trinity; The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, there is no reason for the Almighty to use a plural word. This definitively confirms that all three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Holy Trinity), were directly involved in the creation process. In Genesis 1, we can validate that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit were all “One” in the beginning.

Genesis 1:26, Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness."

This Scripture clearly refers to Elohim (Holy Trinity). Please note, Elohim was not speaking about angels when He stated, "Us and Our," because mankind was never created in the image of angels, but instead, formed in the image of God.

Genesis 1:27, "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him."

The prophet Isaiah also confirms that Elohim (Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit) have always been “One,” as well.

Isaiah 48:15-16, "I, even I, have spoken; Yes, I have called him, I have brought him, and his way will prosper. “Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginningFrom the time that it was, I (Jesus) was there. And now the Lord God (God) and His Spirit (Holy Spirit) have sent Me (Jesus).”

The apostles John and Peter substantiate Jesus (Son) was in the beginning with the Father, as well.

Revelation 13:8, “All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

John 1:1-5, "In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." (Also see Rev. 13:8, John 1:14)

1 Peter 1:20-21, “He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.”

How is God, One God, but Three Persons in One?

To understand God’s awesome and unique nature, let us use water as an example. When water is divided into three different containers, water is still water. It does not lose its uniqueness simply because it is in three different containers. In other words, water is exactly what it was before it was divided into three separate parts and placed into three separate containers. We should use this concept with the Holy Trinity. God can declare that He is One God, yet also Three Persons; God is still God through The Father (YHVH), The Son (Yeshua/Jesus), and The Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh).

1 John 5:7, “For there are three that bear witness in heaven; the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.”

ELOHIM – THE ALMIGHTY

In the beginning was Elohim (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), and all things were created through His absolute knowledge and infinite wisdom. Elohim is eternal, and He has always existed and will continue to exist forevermore. Elohim is the supreme Creator and everlasting Sustainer of all things in the past, present, and future. Elohim is the everlasting truth, and He is the sovereign foundation of all truth and righteousness. Elohim is the only source of eternal life, as He is the only True God, Lord, Deity, and Messiah that has ever existed!

Isaiah 43:10-12, "Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior. I have declared and saved, I have proclaimed, and there was no foreign god among you." (Also see Isa. 45:5,21)

There are three unique characteristics that only a sovereign, divine God (Deity) can possess; Omnipotence, Omniscience, and Omnipresence.

Revelation 19:6, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!”

The first unique characteristic of Elohim is Omnipotence. Omnipotence is defined as being Almighty or all powerful. Elohim rules the universe with unparalleled supreme power and total authority in His sovereign righteousness. He is the Aleph and the Tav, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, the Almighty!

Isaiah 44:6, “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God." (Also see Isaiah 48:12)

Revelation 1:8, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 22:12, “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

Everything in the universe derives from omnipotent Elohim, as He has unlimited divine power. Elohim will do as He pleases and is not subjected to any limitations whatsoever, because He is the Creator of all things.

Psalm 135:5-7, "For I know that the Lord is great, and our Lord is above all gods. Whatever the Lord pleases He does, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deep places. He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries."

The one and only omnipotent Elohim has complete control and total power over the universe, galaxies, solar systems, celestial bodies (sun, moon, stars), physics, water, wind, et cetera, including all of mankind. Elohim’s power is infinite and everlasting!

Psalm 147:4-5, "He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. (Also see Isaiah 46:9-10)

Jeremiah 51:15-16, "He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom, and stretched out the heaven by His understanding. When He utters His voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens: “He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning’s for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries."

The second unique characteristic of Elohim is omniscience. This defines Him as a Deity, because He has infinite wisdom and complete knowledge and understanding of all things. He is the Creator of the universe, and He encompasses all knowledge of the past, present, and future. Elohim understands all that there is to know and all that can be known!

Isaiah 40:26, "Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might, and the strength of His power; Not one is missing."

Proverbs 3:19-20, "The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens; By His knowledge the depths were broken up, and clouds drop down the dew."

The last unique characteristic of Elohim is omnipresence. Elohim's divine Spirit is present everywhere at all times, as it encompasses all of the universe. There is not a location where He does not inhabit. Omnipresent also indicates that Elohim is distinct from the universe, but inhabits the entirety of it!

Psalm 139:7-12, "Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, but the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You."

Hebrews 4:12-13, "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."

1 Kings 8:27, "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You."

Proverbs 15:3, "The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good."

Assuredly, Elohim is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. In fact, He is the great I AM!

Exodus 3:14, "And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.”

To understand the correct perspective of the great "I AM," let us explore the infinite magnitude of Him.

The whole universe includes all matter, energy, galaxies, stars, planets, et cetera. Obviously, there is not a way to measure the whole universe, because it is infinite. The “observable universe” consists of approximately 100 billion galaxies that can be observed from earth. It is estimated the “observable universe” is approximately 28.5 billion parsecs in diameter (93 billion light-years), which places the edge of the observable universe approximately 46.5 billion light-years away!

Furthermore, we live in the Milky Way galaxy, which is one of 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe. It consists of 200 to 400 billion stars with a minimum of 100 billion planets. Also, the Milky Way galaxy spins at approximately 490,000 miles an hour. At this speed, it takes our galaxy 200 million years to make one rotation. Keep in mind, this is just our galaxy out of one billion!

Therefore, if the Milky Way galaxy is this enormous and massive, and it is one out of 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe, and the whole universe is even more magnificent and great, and it is also approximately 46.5 billion light years away, then the whole universe is infinite. Since Elohim is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, what does this tell us about Him? Most certainly, Elohim is infinite, supreme, divine, sovereign, righteous, who is the Creator of the universe and the Almighty! Hallelujah! Amen!

Psalm 33:6, "By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth." (Also see Gen. 1:1-3)

Jeremiah 10:12-13, "He has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, and stretched out the heaven by His understanding. When He utters His voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens: “And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, He brings the wind out of His treasuries.” (Also see Isa. 40:12,15, Jer. 51:15-16)

King David explains all of the universe is like a conglomerated majestic orchestra composed of many harmonious sounds that offer up praise to Elohim. The heavens, which include the angels, hosts, sun, moon, stars, heavens of heavens, and waters above the heavens, sing and praise Him for His supreme infinite glory and righteous sovereignty!

Psalm 19:1,3-4, "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world."

Psalm 148:1-6, "Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights! Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts! Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars of light! Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created. He also established them forever and ever; He made a decree which shall not pass away." (Also see Psalms 148:7-14)

Why did Elohim create the universe? Assuredly, He did not have to create it, but He graciously chose to based on the greatest characteristic of all … love! Elohim is all love, and love is best expressed toward someone or something. Elohim created the universe, and all that it encompasses, including all of mankind, as an expression of love!

Jeremiah 31:3, "The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore, with lovingkindness I have drawn you."

1 John 3:1,16, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called the children of God! By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.” (Also see 1 John 3)

Since Elohim created us and loves us more than we could ever imagine, He also created a plan of salvation and His prophetic timeline for you and me!

Ephesians 1:4, "Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world."

John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Luke 21:36, “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Revelation 3:3, “Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.”

In our book, God’s Prophetic Timeline, Messiah’s Final Warning, we explore how God’s plan of salvation will be ultimately fulfilled through His prophetic timeline, spoken of by the Biblical prophets. The book journeys from the 1948 prophecy unto the 1967 prophecy, on through Daniel's four prophesied kingdoms that will rise to power before Messiah's second coming and millennial reign. The journey will culminate with the eternal New Jerusalem, and you will understand Messiah's final warning, which is the Olivet Discourse (Matt.24-25). Please note, this is not a “date setting” book. However, it does correlate the end of the age prophecies with the current events of today. My friends, if you are interested in understanding the end of the age events before Messiah's second coming, millennial kingdom, and New Jerusalem, which are occurring today, this book is definitely for you!
