Who Is In The Driving Seat?

You learn a lot about business when you observe what employed drivers do...
I can’t pinpoint an exact date when vehicle tracking was first introduced because the technology has evolved over time. However, tracking the movement of vehicles has been around for a long time.
From my own research (and experience) the earliest forms of vehicle tracking were done with paper maps and manual record-keeping. Mainly to follow the movement of vehicles.
This is common in the transport and logistics industry. Basically, anywhere companies needed to keep track of their vehicles to improve efficiency with delivery schedules.
Then over time with the power of technology, there has been more advanced tracking systems developed. In the late 1960s, the U.S. military stated to use satellite tracking systems to monitor the whereabouts of military vehicles.
In the 1980s, with the introduction and development of GPS (Global Positioning System) it made it possible to track vehicles in real-time. Which was a complete game changer at the time.
Now… you can use simple GPS-based systems or a combination of GPS, mobile, and satellite technology to get on-the-second, real-time tracking, and data on all your company vehicle locations, their speeds, and any other KPI’s.
These simple, yet clearly visible, systems are used in transportation, logistics, fleet management, and lots more industries to track everything that’s important about vehicle use; to keep people safe, to keep business profitable.
What if you could get live data for risk management?
I’ve always been fascinated by GPS, and it got me thinking. If transport managers use vehicle tracking software as a tool to help manage and improve operational efficiency.
Why can’t we create something that shows real-time data for an individual property’s fire, asbestos, and legionella reports, as well as historical data on past audits.
This information can be used to make sure compliance is up-to-date, costs are reduced, and ultimately business owners don’t end up with huge fines… or worse – in jail!
So, I decided to create my own system for my own business to operate under.
We called it Vision Pro.
And Vision Pro Software does for risk management what GPS systems do for transport management.
It’s the game changer we needed because it:
A bit of thought leadership
Overall, vehicle tracking software has been a valuable tool for transport managers and the logistics industry (Amazon have done alright out of it), but in the risk management industry we haven’t embraced that change yet.
Until now.
The way Vision Pro has changed how we do business has been incredible but that fact it has been transferable to our clients who include New Look, Jet2, WH Smith, Sky, has been better – if that were possible.
It has sorted out complicated problems and helped develop our company culture. Instead of policing people we can empower them. Instead of checking up on them every time they do an audit, we simply look at the dashboard.
That shift from managing people from fear (my own fear) was replaced with supporting them. My team welcoming the feedback was the game changer I mentioned earlier.
Plus, as an indirect benefit I cut out the need to create meeting agendas, just look at your dashboards, that’s all the accountability we needed to bring everyone together.
Let me show you how
Company Owners or Senior Managers
If you are a company owner or senior manager and want to be sure you and your team have your compliance responsibilities up to date with a non-invasive demonstration, we’d happily show you the system.
It’ll show you whether you have any audits at risk of non-compliance without pointing the finger at your health and safety managers. At the very least it gives peace of mind.
Health and Safety Managers
Alternatively, if you are a Health and Safety manager and you want to see how the system can help you stay on top and cut down the time needed to prepare reports for your Managing Director, we’d happily show you the system.
It’ll show you whether you have any audits at risk of non-compliance without pointing the finger at your individual site managers. At the very least it gives you peace of mind.
Final point
I want to be completely clear that this software was designed to bring the team together working towards a common goal not as a tool to prove someone is doing their job incorrectly.
I believe it’s that attitude that has kept the industry miles behind the transportation sector when it comes to live data tracking and control of audits.
However, if you have a team who you respect but find they're having to work their backsides off and still can't stay on top of things but you would like to support them, this is for you.
