Who do you work for?
After watching Simon Sinek and all awe inspiring "do more" videos. I am certainly motivated by them but am I? Often times I sit back and think who am I doing this for? Who do I work for? Am I working for you, am I working for me, am I working for my family? It's hard to determine that. As employees and especially as Entrepreneurs we are only being taught to work harder, faster, more, and yet everything at home needs us and is waiting for our attention too, home is craving us. We do work for our customers, we solve their problems, we enrich their ideas, we provide them with data, intelligence and customer service, after all they are the ones that keep generating revenue for our companies so we can sustain them. The core values of many companies I have worked for, and am learning from, is that they understand their employees values. What do your employees value? Does it matter? Or do their objectives only matter? Do they take time out for their family, themselves to vent the stress, or do they work themselves into the ground burning the midnight oil and the house down when they get home. Life is short as we've heard once or twice. Live life to the fullest, show love and give love while you still can. Working is work and is required by society to get the things we want but I challenge you to keep in perspective what you want it for. If it's to spend more time with your family, your furry friend, your significant, yourself, do that. Don't spend more time working than you have to. Spend genuine time with those who love you and love you unconditionally. Money fades, family will too as ignorance continues, so take time to think of those in your past today and welcome those into your future that bring more joy than a job that may bring a sigh. Last night we surrendered our family dog to heaven after 13 years. She worked with me here at Maverick and traveled with me to chase after success in my careers over the years. Jersey meant a lot to me and those she came in contact with. So don't forget when you are at wits end, Close relations, loyalty and companionship is waiting at home for you in a man's best friend.
