Who do you call when you are the one that needs help?

As leaders, we often live in a glass house—everyone can see our strengths, our weaknesses, and everything in between. We spend our lives serving others, but when we’re the ones in need, who do we turn to?

I’ve been in that vulnerable place—still leading, still giving, but struggling inside. I learned the value of giving from my grandfather, who was raised by a single mom with 10 kids. He appreciated the power of giving and the value of hard work. But as leaders, we can only give so much before we have to ask ourselves: Who can we ask for help?

Recently, I’ve been working with CEOs who have lost their jobs. These are individuals who have always been in control, and suddenly, they’re searching for support. My mission is to help leaders transform before the glass starts to crack. It’s not about what you’ve done; it’s about who you are at your core.

You can’t wait until the walls come down to start building your foundation. That’s why the concept of Brick by Brick? is so important. Build yourself steadily and intentionally. Don’t let the glass house define you—strengthen your foundation so you’re prepared for anything.

Here’s the key:

  • Build yourself before the crisis hits.
  • Focus on who you are, not just what you’ve accomplished.

When the cracks in the glass appear, who will you call? Start laying your bricks now. Brick by Brick?, build a foundation strong enough to weather any storm.

I see my coach every two weeks. I've been coached regularly since 2018 when I did a complete face-plant, lost my job and my marriage. I had been told for years I should have done it. but NO. I was too self sufficient, successful or scared or it was never urgent enough. Until it was. The smart people in my experience ask for help. The rest just struggle in silence...

I had to create an entire organization because I spent 20 years leading and speaking and never thought to document my journey and get the content I needed.

You've highlighted an important journey, Adam House Sr.. It's crucial to recognize when we need support after giving so much. Building a network of trusted people can make all the difference when seeking help.
