WHO and the Corona Pandemic
WHO
World Health Organization
I came across this organization in 1977 when as a medical representative my company asked me to arrange clinical meetings in the Northern areas of Pakistan. These clinical meetings were supposed to be addressed by,"Professor Dr.Milton Markowitz" who was an adviser WHO on prevention of Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic heart disease .I accompanied him on most of these meetings .He mentioned about Sore throat and its complications and advised a 10 days antibiotic cover for children with sore throat and mentioned if sore throat is not appropriately treated it may lead to crippling disorders like rheumatic fever and rheumatic disorders.
In one of the panel discussions I suggested that laboratories be established in the underdeveloped countries with training to the young people on swab testing for Streptococcal Sore throat as with these testing one can identify the children who can land into crippling disorders and these children be given 10 days antibiotic cover .
He agreed to my suggestion but nothing practical happened till today.
I followed most of the WHO projects related to health in Pakistan. A lot of money was spent on these projects with no outcome .The training of the medical professionals were just a stay away from the hospitals for a few days in five star hotels.
A lot of seminars and training on eradication of Tuberculosis are being held in Pakistan ...WHO advisers are speaking on DOT programs but MDR (Multi drug resistance ) has emerged as one of the major threat in Pakistan .
WHO will have to identify the flaws in its strategies ...hiring the right persons who are familiar with issues and know how to address the health issues.
Corona Pandemic
A lot of directives were issued which were not at all possible to be implemented by the people even in the advance world.
Social distancing and washing of the hands and use of hand sensitizes created artificial shortage, black marketing and a huge increase in the prices of the items mentioned by WHO.A lot of panic was created. The simple solutions were presented in a complicated manners without taking into considerations the non-availability of any remedy to eradicate this pandemic.
The countries which are successful in controlling this viral pandemic are:-
· China
· Russia
· Israel
· Bangla Desh
WHO must have studied the reasons for the control of this pandemic and based on the findings should have given the directives.
These countries took the following steps:-
· Autocracy instead of democracy
· Control on all sort of media
· Only official statements were issued
· No point scoring by politicians
· Concrete steps for the treatment of the patients
· No irrational use of drugs
The countries with non-control and heavy causalities
· Italy
· UK
· France
· USA
· Germany
· Iran
These were the countries with democratic system of governance .The politicians started coming out with criticism to the government measures ….pointing out to the flaws in their strategies instead of coming out with some concrete solutions. Media anchors started giving sermons as they were the masters of everything .This all resulted in chaos and frustration in a segment of society while most of the people simply ignored all the precautions and government directives and the result was a sudden and drastic increase in mortalities.
Countries where the incidence of pandemic is low:-
· Pakistan
· India
· Afghanistan
· Occupied Kashmir
· Nepal
· Bhutan
· Sri Lanka
· UAE
· GULF countries
· Saudi Arabia
· Palestine
· Syria
· Libya
· Iraq
· Yemen
Pakistan
· Politicians
Politicians are just trying to score points by raising their objections in the strategies of the government.
· Corruption
Mafia is very active in making money
· Media
This media of communication is creating a lot of panic and frustration. It is also encouraging a segment of society not to follow the directives of the government. With media people are encouraged to go to masjid without adopting prophylactic measures.
The real incidence of morbidity cannot be established as there is hardly any testing facility in majority of the area of the country.
People are taking it casual as nothing is visible.
A total lock down or curfew type of activities are impossible to be implemented as more than 30 % of the people are below poverty line and there is no system of providing edible to these people.
People with wealth accumulated through corrupt practices are not in a habit of distribution .They just love to keep the wealth with them and are always in a mood to enhance their reserves.
Government
The chief executive of the government Mr.Imran Khan is a visionary leader . He is devising ways and means to overcome this pandemic in a systematic way. His Ehsas program is being implemented in one of the best way .He has devised a scientific way of Biometric testing which is avoiding malpractices .The politicians are not happy as through this system they cannot mint money. These politicians wanted the funds to be distributed through them without this scientific method of Biometric.
· Food distribution
Imran Khan has given a strategy of Tiger force which is being registered and anything which will be distributed will be properly recorded .This will avoid pilferage. The mafia hates this type of practice .the mafia wants the funds for the procurement of food etc and there should be no audit how the money was spent while Imran Khan wants a judicious, honest distribution of ration to the needy.
· Partial Lock down
It is a very good strategy in a situation where testing facilities are low. He is trying his every possible effort to build the reserves to overcome the pandemic in case there is sudden increase in morbidity /mortality.
· Data
Government has all the data on the basis of which the strategy can effectively be implemented.
International support
Imran Khan is trying his utmost to get a tremendous financial support in the form of money and medical equipment.
Hurdles
· A thin majority in the parliament
· A united corrupt mafia
· An antagonistic media.
· Illiteracy
· Corruption

If we go for a SWOT analysis we will find that the role of WHO is just limited to a fraction of the population of the world .Nothing is being done by this organization for people in crisis .Its directives of frequent washing of hands, use of hand sensitizers and face masks are just a piece of theory for the millions of people made homeless by the inhuman attitude of the super powers and now living in refugee camps of in the open.
WHO is mercilessly spending money on futile projects and on just printing and publishing of useless reports.
This organization will have to bring drastic changes in its job description if it at all wants to give some relief to the poverty stricken masses of the world.
The governments of the world will have to follow the countries who have achieved success.
