The MedCity INVEST Digital Health conference on September 18 at Pegasus Park in Dallas — home to the Health Wildcatters accelerator, a key partner — will spotlight healthcare entrepreneurs in the Pitch Perfect contest, which will be the centerpiece of the event. The theme for the contest this year is pediatric mental health. After applications were reviewed, six companies have been selected to compete.

During the contest, finalists will present their technologies and services to attendees. A team of judges will pose questions to the entrepreneurs and score each team according to the criteria for the contest. A winner will be announced at the conclusion of the conference. Acute XR is developing a platform for medical professionals who research and treat mental health conditions in children and adolescents. Its first game uses biofeedback in virtual reality to immerse and teach patients about their bodies and emotional states. The CEO is Dominik Kirchdorfer.
futuresTHRIVE has developed mental health screening tools to identify and track pediatric mental health before it becomes acute or life-threatening. It uses a combination of artificial intelligence and sentiment analysis to create mental health baselines to better understand a child’s unique mental health qualities.

Some of the more than 80 conditions the startup addresses include anxiety, autism, ADHD, depression, and trauma. It offers counseling, testing, diagnosing, speech therapy, occupational therapy, art and music therapy in a collaborative care model. It has focused on the drastically underserved Medicaid market.
