Clinical tools for cholera treatment facilities was added to the WHO institutional repository for information sharing (IRIS) on 10th December, 2024.
This document provides flowcharts and detailed plans for assessing and managing dehydration in cholera patients, categorized into severe dehydration (Plan C), some dehydration (Plan B), and no dehydration (Plan A).
It outlines the use of oral rehydration solutions (ORS) and intravenous fluids, with specific instructions for different age groups and weights.
It also covers the administration of antibiotics for severe cases, pregnant women, and the elderly, as well as the use of zinc supplements.
Additionally, it provides quick references for managing hypoglycemia and includes discharge assessment criteria to ensure patients and caregivers understand cholera prevention and treatment.
