Who Is Carrying The Owl to Athens?

Who Is Carrying The Owl to Athens?

Women wear traditional customs and stand on the beach in front of the white church. This is the Good Bye image i saw in the airport gallery when I left Athens last week. It was a peaceful moment to be surrounded by beautiful women who were present proudly with their colorful customs.

In the Cycladic Art Museum, I enjoyed Cindy Sherman's photos. She invented a new artistic language when she made herself a local American movie hero. She dressed up and organized the scene in her studio. Her ability to act as a role model and as a street girl is impressive. In my last article, I discussed the AI and its influences on Art. As i deepen my look at Sherman’s photos I am more impressed by her courage to push boundaries and invent new worlds that challenge her viewers.

Women in Ancient Greece is the theme of the other exhibition. It was great to see the Women's visual timeline

What If Women Ruled the World is an artistic video by Yael Barthana.

Over the twenty years, Yael has developed her practices where she tells a visual story that is related to an everyday dilemma. Now she challenges her viewer with the end of the world. Women experts from around the world sit around the table and discuss ways we can stop wars. In the background, we see women soldiers marching with their arms and then buried them.

I watched Barthana’s video while my friends sat in the shelters and their sons served on the border.

The Athenians are most famous for their wisdom. The owl symbolizes their city. There is a saying that you do not bring owls to Athens but it was great to see so many powerful women that might bring Peace to the world.
