Who Can Save You from Your Mental?Illness?
Jonathan Arenburg (Owner and Chief content creator for The Road To Mental Wellness) is a Canadian mental health blogger, speaker, and published author. Retired from the fire service and long-term care fields, he has written and self-published an autobiographical account of his life-long battle with anxiety, depression and more recently, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Many of my nights are spent between the realm of sleep and the sudden reemergence of the dark and singular life I live. Nightmares, while helped by medications to a degree, alas, the memories of the fire service prove to be the victor.
And by the very nature of life itself, I can never get a break from the accumulation of the saddest sides of humanity?—?human suffrage. My memories are basically bad horror films that despite my best efforts, can never be shut off.
But we must remember, to struggle is to be human and without it, the joyous occasions may not be recognized. Therefore, I think it's a mistake to think that such things are “only bad.” Never pleasant, maybe, but they are nevertheless helpful.
In my Book, The Road To Mental Wellness , I wrote to the world in hopes that my struggles with PTSD would help others. I hope to demonstrate this by showing them that by doing whatever it takes to improve your mental wellbeing you will see brighter days ahead. Through commitment to your health, you can see a quality of life that you’d thought was lost forever.

As many sufferers with post-traumatic stress disorder know, depression is part of the deal. A sneaky beast that seems to have its own way of thinking. When depression speaks , it tells us that we are no good, worthless, and a burden to our loved ones. None of these often-debilitating statements are true of course, but they, nevertheless feel accurate to us.?
My main take away from my own journey with mental illness is this: Don’t let these mental health conditions define you. Admit to having them, learn to embrace them, and fight to make the most of the life you’ve been gifted.
