Do you watch Game Of Thrones? If yes, then do you know Lord Baelish? Though he is an irritating character but his words are always very wise. One of his quotes says "Everyone is your enemy. Everyone is your friend. Every possible series of events is happening all at once. Live that way and nothing will surprise you".
By nature I am a person who trusts people easily. And my starting point with any new person is to trust him or her what is being said. I hope it will always be my way. If I am let down, lied to or other reasons which cause doubt I then stop trusting. Before this though I will ask the person why. Not aggressively but truthfully. Their answer could be reasonable or not. So, I would not try avoiding blindly trusting people have earned it. I would go easy on the blind because you are responsible for your actions if something goes wrong.
There are many signs, body language, sentence constructions which can tell if a person is telling a fib. A great way is to repeat what they just said but slightly different and see how they respond. I guess I must practice healthy scepticism and never believe anyone or anything that you cannot cross examine; it is remarkably and admirably candid of you to say that you recognise that you are both credulous and suggestible and the way to avoid being credulous and suggestible is to awaken and use your intelligence which will lead you to scepticism, because anything short of scepticism is unintelligent.
Of course you are very sensible not to trust human beings because they are not one person but one another person every minute because they are multiple beings, but then you don’t really need me to tell you that since it is so startlingly obvious. Short of canvassing every one of several billions of human beings I cannot possibly tell if you are the only person to have recognised those obvious weaknesses which are easily cured as prescribed above.
Live long enough and you will be hopefully learn to be a better judge of character. Sometimes, it's only after our mistakes can we begin to understand why some people cannot be trusted. Here are some tips to go for. Start getting everything in writing if possible, even your doctor on occasion. You would be surprised what they might be able to do if they were to put it in writing. Ask the name of who you are speaking with and write down the time of key occurrences. Record the conversation of who you are making a transaction with if legally possible.
Do not pay in advance until the job is done. Some state contractors legal can only require 10% down. Read the fine print before signing and know the refund agreement before buying. Always check the reviews before buying anything. Get several bids before deciding on a home remodel. Choose the most reliable then the best price. Actions really do speak louder than words. Accept recommendations from a trusted friend and do reference check.
Sometimes, a lot of people randomly drop in and they too hang around with me. Most weekends, this is the scene at my home where my room is filled with young people aspiring for being counselled by me and sometimes people dealing with depression. Everyone of them has been nice to me always. Those who learn to cope up with depression keep visiting me again and again. For anyone who has been a part of this, they can vouch for the fact that my parents are the coolest when it comes entertaining such a huge crowd. They always encourage me to assist others in whatever way I can. Cheers!
