PS: USING STEROIDS TO TREAT COVID 19.

THE USE OF STEROIDS "SHORT TERM" IS SAFE: with short term use, prednisone can cool the inflammation caused by Covid 19 Corona Virus that can trigger life-threatening attacks of inflammation in different parts of our bodies (LUNGS, HEART, GI TRACT, ANTI-CLOTTING SYSTEM.... (IT'S WHEN STEROIDS ARE taken chronically, they can wreak havoc on your ability to fight infections. NOBODY SUGGESTED TREATING COVID 19 WITH STEROIDS OVER LONG PERIODS OF TIME WHICH WOULD RESULT IN DEPRESSING ONE'S IMMUNE SYSTEM. STEROIDS ARE SAFE AND EFFECTIVE WHEN USED SHORT TERM TO TREAT COVID 19. 

As I’ve stated before there is not a day that goes by that a patient doesn’t ask me remembering as far back as early December BEFORE WE EVER HEARD OF COVID-19, "Dr. maloney do you think that was the coronavirus that I had when you treated me back then?" My patients state the symptoms they had...and I say yes of course it was adding, don’t you remember me saying “this is a really weird strange virus this year that’s different than any other I have ever seen, stating that I’m going to have to give you steroids and possibly a second round of them to clear you up. I literally said this every day to patients (it's a really weird, different virus this year but not to worry, I'll give you medicine that will clear you up, encouraging all with cough to keep coughing deeply to get the phlegm up. The majority of my patients, who in retrospect, I firmly believe had COVID-19 in December... different presentations: bronchitis, sinusitis, sore throat stomach problems… all recovered. For the most part, all were were treated by me with Zithromax (Zpk), Prednisone and albuterol broncodilator inhaler two puffs three times daily or an inhaler with a steroid such as Symbicort. 

I reported to Gov Cuomo's advisors etc. the dose of prednisone I used was 20 mg 19 tablets as follows: one 3 times daily for the first three days, One pill Two Times daily for the next three days, One pill daily for the following three days and 1/2 a pill or 10 mg on the last day. NOBODY SHOULD TAKE THESE MEDS WITHOUT Rx AND SUPERVISION BY A PHYSICIAN). I did not have one case of pneumonia or hospitalization during that period of time when I used this treatment regimen. Keep in mind that my practice is right next to the town (where many of my patients live) that was declared the first containment zone in the United States and where the first large outbreak was of coronavirus COVID-19 in the US (New Rochelle, Westchester New York). Again, Governor Cuomo started drive-through testing ON MY RECOMMENDATION AND INSTRUCTIONS AS TO HOW TO DO IT in New Rochelle, NY, the template which was copied not only throughout New York but also throughout the entire United States, when I gave recommendations regarding the treatment I just described to the Governor, CDC etc., stating the success I had in treating Covid 19 patients I received no feedback. I can only presume that the Health Commissioners, Cuomo's advisers, who I recommended and gave instructions as how to do drive thru testing, those who told me they presented my ideas to the Governor who approved and implemented that which I suggested, took credit for it all, as they would not respond to me when I reported the success I had been seeing using steroids in treating Covid 19, which I reported to them, Dr Fauci, the CDC... in early February. Granted anyone reading this must bear in mind that the experience I had and continue to have in treating Covid patients in the area in which I practice does not preclude the possibility that this virus has mutated into more virulent forms, and as well may affect different populations differently, even in terms of location with regards to environmental factors etc. However, I tend to strongly believe that steroids are beneficial just by the fact that finally they are being used on hospitalized patients and in much higher dosages. Regardless, the most important thing to remember is to use your common sense and remember the old adage “better safe than sorry”. Another thing to remember when looking at the numbers of people who died from COVID-19 is that we shut down the entire country and isolated ourselves as much as possible and without that, these numbers of deaths would’ve been extremely much higher. NOBODY SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR CREDIT OR PLAYING POLITICS WHEN IT COMES TO TREATING PATIENTS AND SAVING LIVES!!! WAKE UP POLITICIANS AND THOSE WHO MIGHT HAVE A VESTED FINANCIAL INTEREST IN DECIDING HOW TO TREAT THIS KILLER VIRUS BEFORE ONE OF YOUR LOVED ONES ARE STRUCK DOWN BY COVID 19, AND REALIZE THAT WITHIN JUST A FEW MONTHS ALMOST ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND PEOPLE HAVE REPORTEDLY DIED, JUST IN THE US ALONE FROM THIS VIRUS. STOP THE BS THAT ONLY CONFUSES EVERYONE AND GET ON THE SAME PAGE WITH THIS REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRATIC ELECTED OFFICIALS: THIS IS A PANDEMIC AND WE'RE THE ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD PLAYING POLITICS WITH COVID 19 FOR PERSONAL GAIN AND BLAME INSTEAD OF ALL WORKING TOGETHER TO FIGHT THIS CORONA VIRUS. THE STATISTICS CLEARLY SHOW HOW IGNORANT THE UNITED STATES HAS BECOME WITH REGARDS TO LIFE-THREATENING HEALTHCARE ISSUES.
