Who buys CPM traffic and why? Part 1.

Who buys CPM traffic and why? Part 1.

Ok ladies and gents let’s discuss this simple but crucial question. Who buys the CPM traffic? Why on Earth do they do that?

Why I think it’s important to understand. Well, you might be surprised from your findings.

**Type 1**: CPA/CPI buyers. That is the tough buyer. Easy come, but easy go. If you sell traffic to those guys you should understand — they want it to convert. How do they judge your stuff is good? It has high CTR and it converts. If it delivers rocket CTRs but do not convert — it’s not good. Straight as it is. But it’s not as easy as that. Let’s go deeper.
**Type 1.1**: Affiliates Tier2. Those guys grabbed offers, somewhere, probably at one of the popular offer aggregators and want to make some money on top. They usually don’t have a lot of tools or experience. They judge your traffic simply trying it. The goal of those is simple, pay small CPM, make some conversions get the affiliate payouts. I personally hate those guys, they don’t want to make an effort, but they want the magic happen. Have no idea how they exist and why there are so many of those guys. Maybe they really know the ?channels? and the ?dealers? who have good traffic. Let the force be with them. Ah yes they have one special feature, they can deposit you some cash and ask for the refunds telling they will sue you for the 5 bucks they’ve spent. My advice here — don’t you let them into your platform.
**Type 1.2**: Affiliates Tier1. As you might have guessed this guys sometimes might originate from the first type (rarely). Usually those are managers from bigger companies who have enough instruments and some basic training and skills to convert the offers they have. The offers might be exclusive as well, which is good as they might pay more. In that case if your traffic is not total junk and you want to spare some time on thinking how to deliver it right, you might make a penny. But if you can optimize it for them, why can’t you do the same for yourself?
**Type 1.3**: Brands/E-commerce/Internet businesses. Or anyone who wants to sell something in the Internet and has some budget for that. My personal choice. Why? Well, because you feel you are doing the right thing helping them. They are different, they are individual. Usually they are not the big once, the big once have the affiliate programs in place you can go and grab one from the Amazon or AliBaba easily. But there are plenty of choice for you as the person who wants some direct buyers. There is not a big chance they find you by themselves (they speak Google and FB). But if you could give them comparable results they will stay with you forever.

There are much more types but I am not in the mood of making a long grid today. We’ll split it. You have something to add to this, go ahead, shoot it in the comments.
