You just got a promotion you never asked for and to help you with your new role, you have been provided with a highly intelligent person to work full time for you. But there is a problem. Your new role is not clarified and you really do not know what to do with this person. Actually, you are a little scared. This person has an amazing CV and can very well replace you soon.
Besides his high level of intelligence, this person is extremely hardworking. Can work non-stop with high level of precision, accuracy, and speed and even does not require any vacation time or meal breaks. You guessed it right; this is your new AI Bot ready to work for you.
It is like a genie out of the bottle. You were excited in the beginning but now looking at the potential of this genie you feel a little overwhelmed. This genie is highly motivated to take over as much of your work as soon as possible. You have no clear idea what to do.
You do not have much choice either except to accept this undesired promotion and delegate some work to AI. But before you do that, let’s analyze the strengths and weaknesses of you (a biological brain) and AI (a digital brain).
It is very clear that each brain has unique advantages over the other. Humans can never beat machines over speed, accuracy, and memory. So, if we are able to delegate all tasks requiring speed, accuracy, and memory, our lives should become a lot more comfortable.
You feel relieved with the thought that you can delegate almost 50% of the work to AI. But soon you get worried again with another thought. How will you justify your role if your occupancy drops to 50%?
You have two choices:
1)???Let the AI gradually take over your entire work. In the meantime, you can wait for a new assignment or new role. This probably is never going to happen. (still most will do it)
2)???Adapt to a more strategic career transformation approach (few will do it):
a.????You analyze your entire work and strategically decide what to delegate to AI and what to keep with you.

b.????You focus on developing and polishing your human skills.
c.????In the meantime, you vigilantly monitor AI developments.
No doubt, millions of jobs will be eliminated soon but, hopefully, millions of new jobs will be created as well. In this process of job disruption, millions of people will be affected who are not prepared.
How can you prepare for this mega disruption?
We do not know yet what will be the nature of roles that will emerge through the creation of new jobs but we can make an educated guess about the skills required for such roles. Without doubt, there is going to be a sharp rise in the demand for unique human skills like emotional intelligence, adaptability, creativity and intuition, etc.
Every one of us has some level of expertise in such skills. But to qualify for those future roles, we must excel in these skills. It is going to be highly competitive. Not everyone will qualify for such leadership roles but only those who can demonstrate a clear edge in these skills.
Can you learn and master these skills? Absolutely.
When should you start learning? Right now, before it becomes too late. You do not have much time left.**
P.S. I have been working for the past 6 months to develop a curriculum that can help mid-career finance professionals continue with their career growth in these uncertain times. Take a look here.

1 年AI cannot compete with human intelligence. However, to be better than AI, we can work on developing and refining our soft skills such as empathy, emotional intelligence, creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and adaptability. Focus on honing our abilities, building relationships, collaborating with others, learning from experiences, and staying curious and motivated. Human qualities like humor, intuition, morality, and ethics will always set you apart from AI. So, strive to become a well-rounded individual with strong technical skills and interpersonal qualities that cannot be replicated by a machine. Best wishes to us ??
