Who benefits from the 'O'?

Those alleged best practices that everyone peddles as a gold standard are equivalent to that detestable ‘O’ on the clothing rack.?

What’s the point of making clothing labels with an ‘O’ size when we know that one-size-does-not-fit-all?

?

You can wear the shirt, but the fit is never going to be great or even ideal for you.

To me, it’s like saying: this garment will never fit you properly – you’re welcome!?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

This month, I signed up for an interactive program that offers well made tools, templates, and guidelines. The first week, I used them as directed (a->b->c) and it just didn’t feel right.

It felt awkward and unnatural, like I was pretending to be someone else. Disingenuous and not me. After a week of experiencing this tension, I realized something that I think is worth sharing with you.

?

I don’t need to settle for an ‘O’ and neither do you.

We can pick and choose what works best for us. ?Our game. Our rules.

If I want to use part of a tool and toss the rest, I can absolutely do that. If I choose not to use it at all, that’s cool too.

?

If you’re reading this, I’m betting that you are a grown-a$$ adult and that means you don’t need to follow other people’s advice exactly as it’s given. And you understand the value of adapting things to your needs.

Because your circumstances, motivations, desires, goals, and resources are not the same as others.

?

A personal example:

I’m not on LinkedIn to create a viral post. I have zero desire for that outcome.

I’m here for the community and the connections; to share ideas, to learn from others, and to contribute in any small way I can.

I’m all for learning but I’m not here to drink the Kool-Aid. I never really liked it much as a kid.

?

SO, absolutely pull from the models, guidelines, frameworks, and experts, but don’t feel like you have to copy + paste.

DO IT YOUR WAY. MAKE IT YOURS.

There is no best way to learn English. Don’t let anyone tell you their method IS the best one. Best for who exactly?

First of all, I learned about the O thing ??, secondly, I totally agree: the best fit is your fit, not even the best fit fits for all!

Love this -- "I’m here for the community and the connections; to share ideas, to learn from others, and to contribute in any small way I can."

I would need 3 size zeros, like a Rubenesque female James Bond..
