White-Collar Crime Survey by Netrika in association with INBA

White-collar crime refers to non-violent crimes committed for financial gain purposes through deceptive practices. White-collar crimes are usually conducted by businesspeople who can obtain large amounts of money, although the word is sometimes extended to others who in other situations pilfer capital.

These types of crimes cover a wide range of activities, but the offenses are usually committed by people working in otherwise legitimate businesses. Throughout their societies and enterprises, the offenders sometimes maintain responsible roles before their illegal activities are detected. White-collar criminal laws vary, based on the exact nature of the offenses that have been perpetrated, although many come under federal authority. With time, the risks have become more nuanced, with fraudsters being sophisticated and competent. The high costs of fraud and corruption prevention have not only become a national priority but a global problem for both governments and companies.

The public perception of doing business in India has changed gradually in the past few years. Increased public attention and regulatory changes have contributed to the fight against white-collar crime taking several steps at a global, corporate and possibly even individual level. Investigating white-collar crime and prosecuting culprits is, and will continue to be, like a game of hiding and seek. Enforcement agencies are also looking to exploit software and introduce forensic tools to nail fraudsters to deal with the rise in white-collar crimes and protect the greater economic interest of different stakeholders.

Considering the challenges present, revolutionary interventions in terms of technology set-ups, skill development, regulatory structure, shifting people's mindsets and developing processes to tackle white-collar crime, Netrika Consulting Pvt. Ltd, a premier risk mitigation & Integrity Management company, in collaboration with Indian National Bar Association (INBA), the biggest voluntary Bar Association is launching a White-Collar survey, report of which would be launched on the Constitution Day Conference, 26th Nov 2019.

With the designed survey, Netrika looks forward to developing and tracking effective internal fraud management systems, fostering integrity, enforcement, and good governance as well as identifying criminals at the same time. The survey also aims to broaden its reach to the mass no. of people and an active enforcement system can help to deter and identify wrongdoing of employees. It can also provide an opportunity for an organization to avoid unethical activities early and take remedial action.

We encourage our industry colleagues to participate and share their thoughts, kindly take some time out for this short survey -https://bit.ly/2N3REqI
