White & Case LLP Innovation - Spring Series

It was a pleasure to participate in panel discussions and workshops about Innovation in Legal Practice during the White & Case LLP Spring Series in Europe this week. The seminars were hosted on successive days in the firm’s Frankfurt and Paris offices and were attended by the firm’s impressive cadre of creative minds along with a cache of lawyers from European and international corporations, technologists, entrepreneurs and industry thought leaders.

Visionary, Oz Benamram, shared trenchant insights into his strategy to operationalize innovation across the firm, providing insight into not only the application of state-of-the-art technology to solve clients’ real world problems but also his team's tactics to foster lateral thinking, a catalyst for change.

The omnipresent Justin North of Janders Dean kicked off the proceedings delivering a perceptive overview of the state of the international legal market today interspersed with salient observations and anecdotes gleaned from decades of experience in our sector.

Monet Fauntleroy’s elegant moderation ensured a graceful flow of discussion and facilitated much creative debate about a diverse range of legal technology topics.

Cliff Dutton, Chief Innovation Officer at Epiq shared deep insights into the key to successful innovation of legal process, emphasizing throughout the importance of ‘measurement’ and ‘problem definition before technology’, while Emily Foges of Luminence delivered eloquent and compelling real world examples of powerful AI at work along with prophetic reflections about where it might all end up for the legal market.

After two days of intensely stimulating dialogue and thought provoking perspective sharing my poor brain hurts but that's nothing a little croissant and a glass of bubbles on the Champs-élysées can’t fix.
