Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts Receives Grant from Bayer Fund

Donation to Educate and Empower Young Girls through STEAM Programming

Harrisburg, PA (Feb. 21, 2024)Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts announced today it received a grant for $25,000 from Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of 拜耳 in the U.S. ,Whitaker Center will use the funds to enhance and expand its Girls in STEAM initiatives, including summer discovery camps in 2024.

"We are thrilled and deeply grateful for Bayer Fund's investment in our Girls in STEAM programs," said Michael Ringenbach, vice president for development, Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts. "This grant represents a shared vision to empower young girls and cultivate a more inclusive and equitable future by encouraging them to pursue their passions in the STEAM field."

The donation from Bayer Fund will support STEAM workshops and learning experiences while fostering an environment where girls can thrive, innovate, and envision themselves as leaders in traditionally underrepresented fields.?

“Through Bayer Fund’s giving, we’re enabling and strengthening organizations that are working to make real, sustainable impacts in their local communities across the United States,” said Al Mitchell, President of Bayer Fund. “Programs like Girls in STEAM and summer camps inspire future generations for careers in the high-demand STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) field, and we are proud to provide our support.”

In 2023, Bayer Fund awarded $12.1 million in grants to more than 2,300 charities and nonprofit organizations to help address essential needs in food and nutrition, STEM education, and health and wellness. Since 2017, nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received nearly $90 million from the Bayer Fund.?
