While weightloss is essential post partum, how do we regain our strength?

Getting right back into a regular workout is not the way as much as you'd like it to be.

We as moms just want to get back into shape overnight and end up doing more harm than good by jumping into regular workouts, all thanks to body shaming and societal standards.

While a new mom is usually given a go to workout 4-6 weeks after giving birth, she should be ready physically and mentally to start.

Remember that slow and steady is always more sustainable for good health and fitness.

What we really need to give importance about is

?- our body's posture and alignment (most important due to incorrect posture from baby carrying, feeding, hanging belly)

- comfortable walking (to allow lower body joints mobility and general wellness)

- getting back our mobility and stability (to help with daily activities and general health)

- strengthening pelvic floor (to prevent prolapse, incontinence, tight pelvic floor)

- working on inner core strength for full body function

(to heal diastasis recti, strengthen the abdominal region, decrease belly size, better strength for daily activities like lifting the baby/heavy items, prevent herniation)

Gaining strength should be our primary focus post partum.

Weightloss will happen subsequently in the process, but working on strength will ensure you are happily present for your child without any health complications in the future.

?So how do we get started?

- 360 degree diaphragmatic breathing practice

- posture alignment by pelvic tilts and cat-cow movements

- kegels, bridges, heel taps for pelvic floor and hip and back strength

- dead bug, side plank, reverse plank for core strength

?There are many more such specifically designed movements for post partum women both in conventional exercise and yoga.

?I ensure each workout schedule is curated depending on the client's current fitness levels and is scaled up every 2-3 weeks based on their progress.
