While the Sun Shines...

You and I, we've got plans

More jobs to get done than there's grains of sand

In an hour passing by;

More things we ought to achieve

Than there's petals of blossom adrift on the breeze

In this picture-postcard sky.

But y'know...

Days like these are so few -

I really think we should adopt the view

That we've got time.

I feel it would be a mistake

Not to take the chance to make

Make love, while the sun shines.

You and I've things to prove

More mountains to climb, than moments to lose

In the work of dawn to dark.

In fact we've more deadlines to meet

Than there's blades of grass all a-ticklin' our feet

On our blanket, down at the park...

Where we've got strawberries and sun-cream for two

Our limbs entangled, all askew

And we've got time.

Tomorrow we'll make recompense,

For today, this must take precedence:

We'll make love, while the sun shines...

That cloud up there's a perfect cartoon-crocodile

I can hear him ticking, as he opens up in a lazy ol' smile

Oh, but the sun on your skin, oh

Let your lips linger on mine awhile

Let him catch us if he can...

Tomorrow's the day that we'll seize

Tomorrow we'll work like the honey-bees

Mmm-mmm... we've got time

And when you've ticked off all your list
