While Leaders Embrace AI, most Employees remain unengaged with AI Tool with frequent use limited to White-Collar workers!

??Two-thirds of employees (67%) report NEVER using AI Tools.

?? 93% of Fortune 500 CHROs say their organization has begun using AI tools and technologies to improve business practices.

?? AI usage varies across job levels. Among employees who report using AI, the most common applications are generating ideas (41%), consolidating information or data (39%), and automating basic tasks (39%).

?? Nearly half of employees report that AI has significantly boosted their productivity and efficiency in their roles, according to a new interesting research published by Gallup using data ?? from US employees during Q2 2024.

?Two-thirds of employees report never using AI in their jobs

Employees AI usage

Researchers discovered that weekly AI usage remains limited, with many employees never using AI at all. When asked about their AI usage, nearly seven in ten employees reported never using AI, while only one in ten used it at least weekly.

?? These statistics have remained largely unchanged from 2023 to 2024, indicating that increasing AI adoption will require strong leadership and comprehensive training programs.

?Frequent AI Tool Users are predominantly White-Collar workers

White-Collar employees have the highest AI usage

Researchers observed that only a third (33%) of all U.S. employees say their organization has begun integrating AI into their business practices, with the highest percentage in white-collar industries (44%).

?AI usage varies by Job Level

Using AI to assist the work

Researchers found that among employees who use AI, the most common applications are:

1?? Generating ideas (41%)

2?? Consolidating information or data (39%)

3?? Automating basic tasks (39%)

?? This trend is especially pronounced among leaders, with 46% of them using AI to consolidate information or data, compared to 36% of individual contributors.

?AI has a positive impact on Productivity and efficiency

Impact of Productivity and efficiency on job

Researchers found that nearly half of employees report increased productivity and efficiency in their roles due to AI.

?? Additionally, 45% of CHROs note that AI has enhanced their organization’s operational efficiency.

?? Finally, researchers recommend three key strategies to support AI adoption within organizations:

?? Clearly Communicated Plan for Integration

while 93% of CHROs say they have begun using AI in their organizations, only 33% of employees have heard about it. And only 15% of employees say their organization has communicated a clear plan or strategy for integrating AI technology into current business practices.

?? Clearly Established Guidance for AI Use

This lack of guidance limits employee use of AI technology and creates security risks. By establishing clear guidelines for usage, organizations can empower their workforce to use these technologies effectively and securely, ensuring AI serves as a tool for furthering innovation and efficiency rather than a liability.

?? Training Aligned With Employees’ Roles

While experimentation may be part of getting comfortable with AI tools, formal educational experiences are crucial to motivating employees to explore AI tools and use them effectively on their own.

?? ???? ???????????????? ????????:

This interesting research by Gallup reveals fascinating trends in AI adoption. Without effective leadership, AI integration in the workplace will remain limited, potentially squandering the billions invested in AI transformation. Researchers emphasize that leaders need both a technology and a people strategy to achieve meaningful results. This includes a clearly communicated plan, established guidelines, and formal training

??Thank you Gallup researchers team for sharing these insightful findings:

Employees require a clear understanding of how AI can enhance their roles and why it’s being integrated into the business. Successful AI adoption should be a collaborative effort rather than a directive from the top. It’s essential to shift AI from merely a strategic initiative to a part of the organization’s culture. This involves engaging all levels of the workforce, ensuring AI is accessible, and showcasing its value through practical, everyday use cases. Thank you for sharing this interesting research.

One area that appears to be missing (both in this research and when visiting organisations) is the need to explain to staff the advantages of utilising AI. I have seen where doing so has had a profound impact (and increase) in the use of AI. I can't leave this thread without again issuing a warning - information (data) gained from using AI needs to be put into context if it is to add value to all stakeholders. Great post Nicolas - thank you for sharing.

Nicolas BEHBAHANI Thanks for sharing. Gallup does very good research., and this is no exception. The AI movement has, is, and will continue to happen. While the science and application of AI is complex, the basic logic is simple: AI provides information that improves decisions. Any decision relying on information can likely be improved through AI tools (machine learning, large language models, chatgpt, big data, chatbots, etc.). The three uses of AI that Gallup identified are about sourcing information to improve decisions. When we have asked people (mostly in HR) about how far AI is up the "s-curve" of use, we generally hear 25 to 30%. More is coming because so many decisions rely on an use information. We have seen four phases of this evolving agenda.... see chart. Again, thanks for sharing useful research on this important agenda.

AI is like coriander in Indian curry - sprinkled on every dish but not always noticed. ?? for sharing Nicolas BEHBAHANI. ?? Most employees might not realize they're using AI daily for personal tasks like music, exercise, ordering food, shopping, money exchange, investing, etc. saving time & boosting personal productivity. Obviously, boosting work productivity. ??♀?White-collar workers harness AI for work, but aligning it with company strategy is key. ?? ?? Agree with the research recommendations - let’s make AI part of every employee’s toolkit, not just the execs. ?Ai - ROi - A – Awareness - Educate employees. I – Integration of AI into daily workflows. R – Relevance to Business Strategy Highlight how AI can have??tangible benefits O – Offer opportunities for learning & upskilling. I – Incentivise people for adaptation.
