Which way from here for the world's wealth?
The world's wealth has rebounded beyond expectations from a slump in 2022. Assets have risen in value. New wealth has been created. And, in a small number of markets, the number of USD millionaires could even rise by up to 50%.
So, who are the big winners in this recovery? Are we all set to benefit? Or just a select few? Research from our latest Global Wealth Report reveals all.
Ready, set, grow
From the lowest to the highest wealth brackets, our research suggests that people's wealth will keep rising over the next four years.
While most countries' fortunes are on the up, emerging economies are leading the way. We forecast that emerging economies will achieve a 30% share of global wealth in 2024, rising to nearly 32% by 2028.?
Who wants to be a millionaire?
With wealth rising, it's little surprise that the number of members of the seven-figure club will grow too. We expect that, by 2028, the number of adults with wealth of over a million US dollars will increase in 52 out of 56 markets we analyzed.
Our research shows that the United States has the most millionaires, at nearly 22 million people (38% of the world's total). Mainland China comes second, with just over six million. The United Kingdom takes third place, with over three million.

Topping the table for new USD millionaires is Taiwan, with a projected increase of almost 50% by 2028. This forecast is mainly stems from Taiwan's microchip industry, which is set to benefit from the boom in artificial intelligence. Immigration by wealthy foreigners will also contribute to the rise.
