Another insight from the survey above:

“85% of survey respondents say that focusing on employee needs and expectations is the key success factor in the competition for talent."

This represents the highest level of agreement in the whole study, underscoring the importance of an employee-centered approach.

Amazing, isn’t it?

It’s not just about offering your employees thousands of online courses they can access. It’s not about having a library in your headquarters. Or various forms of trainings.?

Don’t get me wrong. I’m a big fan of all three.?

It’s just that often there are two things missing:

  1. A culture that truly supports personal growth and learning. (Because, let’s face it… if your boss is not a fan of learning often you will not use the opportunities given to you)
  2. A common thread is missing in the personal development path of every employee - in other words: it’s not personalised.

“Change is the only constant in the business world”

Mike Ross, founder of Juniper consulting

In my opinion, these are two great challenges HR and L&D leaders need to address. Tech is a great enabler in this era of transformation.

But equally important is establishing the right framework. An organization needs to embrace change, learning and development.?

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, did a great job transforming the company’s culture with fantastic economic results. In an interview with Jessi Hempel , he said:

“If you take two kids at school, one of them has more innate capability but is a know-it-all. The other person has less innate capability but is a learn-it-all. The learn-it-all does better than the know-it-all.”?

If you want to know more about Microsoft’s cultural transformation, I suggest you listen to Kathleen Hogan’s interview with David Green on the Digital HR Leaders podcast .?

According to an article published by McKinsey human resource is at the center of organisational change and should ‘reimagine the basic tenets of organization.’ The authors state:

“Corporate purpose fuels bold business moves. “Labor” becomes “talent.” Hierarchies become networks of teams.?Competitors become ecosystem collaborators. And companies become more human: inspiring, collaborative, and bent on creating an employee experience that is meaningful and?enjoyable.”

What is your opinion?

Which challenges does your organization face from HR perspective? How do you cope with them??
