Which Step Have You Reached Today?

Without trying, without taking that first step, life is filled with a lot of what ifs.

If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place. – Nora Roberts

Even after taking that first step, people will often times stop. Yet, every step taken immensely enhances the value of the first step.

Progress hardly ever comes in a straight line. There may be times when one needs to take a step back or take a different path, it’s ok. Just because you can’t see the results, it doesn’t mean that the effort was wasted. Sometimes the hardest thing about change is being patient.

With any goal in life it’s important to plan and break it down into smaller, more attainable steps. Like an airplane reaching its final destination, you need to plan, act, and modify your approach along the way. It’s easier said, and sometimes far harder to implement.

Without goal setting our dreams remains an idea and not something tangible. When a plan is set for achieving your goals, you’re more likely to see things through.

Plan your next move, because every step contributes toward your goal – Sukant Ratnakar

What you achieve today will take you even closer to what you want later.

Just as the image above represents, success is at the very top of a flight of stairs. Even when it becomes challenging, the only way to get there is one step at a time; Step by step you will get there.

Thought experiment. While the concept of steps and ladder ring true, you are pushing yourself towards your goal. If you think of a grapling hook that's on your goal, you can swing and jump while on the rope and always be heading in the right direction as you pull yourself to your goal. Life is crazy, complex and shifting. Maybe we rethink the need for a static metafore to cope with it. That approach may not be for everyone, but it sure sounds like fun. So long as there is a safety line and no auto pulley, that's cheating, like using the lift.
