Which Provinces in Canada Offer Better Points For Students Visa?

With more than 80 different PNPs in the country here are a few provinces that offer better points or options for students to qualify for permanent residence.

 Alberta’s Express Entry Stream

Canada’s Alberta province located to the West is home to few thriving Canadian cities such as Edmonton and Calgary. The province boasts of an international standard education system and a growing job market and hence is on the top of the list of every student and job seeker while searching for immigration possibilities.

The selection for the Alberta Express Entry is done through the Federal Express Entry pool. The nominations are invited by the province through this stream. Interestingly, Alberta’s Express Entry Stream requires a CRS score of only 300 for qualifying which enhances the chances of the candidates to receive Notification of Interest from the officials.

Once an applicant receives a provincial nomination his CRS score will increase by 600 points which furthermore is a sort of guarantee for receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR. Apart from Alberta, Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are some of the provinces that offer good scores to students.

Studying in Canada Ensures High Points to Students

According to the present immigration system of Canada, foreign students who have a certificate, diploma, or degree from a Canadian college or school stand a chance of getting more points which can enhance their CRS Score. The new system allocates up to 30 points to such students who have studied in Canada. Also, depending upon the duration of their study and the level of their education, the students can get additional points for a student visa.

To become eligible for these points, the student must have studied in Canada for at least eight months. It is also mandatory that he/she should be engaged in a full-time training or study program.

The points are applicable only for students who have completed secondary school credentials. As the qualification level goes up from secondary program level to Ph.D. level, the points allotted also go up from 30 to 140. Spouses or common-law partners of such students can also benefit from this point system.
