Which one do you want? Be a victim or a victor?

Every day we realize it or not, we make decisions, start from small thing like what kind of clothes we will use for today or making a big decisions in a business. I’m a big fans of The Seventh habits of highly effective people book from Covey and I’m lucky enough that in my early career I was working in a group of company that give the opportunity to learn more about it.

For the decisions making, Covey said that between the stimulus & response we have the ability to choose your response, to make decisions. We are not the product of the situations or the stimulus, we are the product of our decisions. Start from the inside out and be responsible for our life. Decisions making is the skills that we need to face the obstacle & challenges we have, we must choose our response in every steps. In every situations we have the ability to choose our response and our response will determine the result. When we using this “power to choose” ability we will be more responsible to control our situations and shifting our paradigm from victim to victor.

In my opinion, we must dare to make decisions, start from the small things and then to the bigger things, it just like muscle, it gets stronger if you practice it. Making decisions will be much easier if you have what Covey said your “true north” or the “correct values” as a base for you to make decisions. There will be no bad decisions if you make decisions based on the “true north”, you just need to believe and put your commitment on it.

In the end, it’s your decision that matter, do you want to be a victim or a victor?
